hi, can you use shredded paper in place of sand or peat in your hypertufa?

You have no drainage holes in the planters, are they added atsome point?

Vermiculite is like asbestos..ware a mask to protect your lungs..awesome creation though.

If you ever need cement to set up a bit faster (too wet of a mix) you can sprinkle some dry Portland on it. That will absorb the extra water and start to set quickly.

I have been attempting to make a large cement planter with little success so far but now I am going to try again with your hypertufa very helpful ideas and examples of trial and error til we get it correct :) DIY is so fun. Wouldn't it be stronger if you used a few cement-soaked cotton t-shirts layered over the form? Should still be light weight.

All of these problems caused by using far too much water in you cement mix and way too much oil! I should imagine that you have worked this out already!

Hate to tell you but the mask didn't work against covid particles nor does it work against cement. Otherwise good video learned a lot.

after molding the sand, "pour" a thin layer of the cement mix over it. let set just a bit. this will separate the sand from the mix, now you can add mix by the handfuls without having it peel off some sand.I love your videos :)
