Great video! It would be really helpful if the video description provided a list of all of the places featured in it.

hi, can you use shredded paper in place of sand or peat in your hypertufa?

If you ever need cement to set up a bit faster (too wet of a mix) you can sprinkle some dry Portland on it. That will absorb the extra water and start to set quickly.

Thank you for this excellent video. I learned a great deal, you working with the soupy mixture lets me know you can fix it if you go too far on the water. I am looking forward to doing my project even more now after seeing what you do. Carry On Madam!

Did your cement mix already contain sand ? Cause I noticed you didn't add sand?

Thank you Jen so much for this video. I have been doing it off and on for several years because that's how effective it has been for me. Also, looking and searching for a video that has both balance and stretch has not been easy. There are rare videos out there that have both exercises together. So this video and your part 2 are the best and only. Thank you again ❤

I love your video! I have been attempting to make a large cement planter with little success so far but now I am going to try again with your hypertufa very helpful ideas and examples of trial and error til we get it correct :) DIY is so fun. I love having nice things without having to spend lots of money.

I have to say I did enjoy your video, however, why didn’t you just add more product to the mix to thicken it up a bit, I would think it would have been much easier.

Wouldn't it be stronger if you used a few cement-soaked cotton t-shirts layered over the form? Should still be light weight.

All of these problems caused by using far too much water in you cement mix and way too much oil! I should imagine that you have worked this out already!

@@janethayes1908. The truth hurts sometimes. IMHO the hostess was very cordial and pleasant to listen to but way too many “not the correct way to do things” moments in the video. The killer, to me, was not doing the challenging ball, not correcting the soupy slop, and not showing the results.

@@FletcherHillier Yes it can over the very long term. But I know people who have hypertufa planters out in their gardens that are well over 10 years old. What is missing here is the leaching period. You can’t really plant directly into it after making them. Here in the PNW we usually leave them outside in the rain for a winter to do that.

after molding the sand, "pour" a thin layer of the cement mix over it. let set just a bit. this will separate the sand from the mix, now you can add mix by the handfuls without having it peel off some sand.I love your videos :)
