Hej. What would be the most scenic route from Åbo? Could it be too Rovaniemi or Oulu? Are there places where one can legally and safely set up a tent to spend the night or two? Please recommend the places if there are. It could be helpful for someone in a budget who would make 1 one or 2 days return journey for the bus views.

In Finland, under "jokamiehenoikeudet" you are allowed to set up a tent / hammock and sleep in it pretty much anywhere. As long as you don't do so in someone else's yard, a nature reserve, or a natural park, you'll be just fine! As to where those areas where you can't set up tents are, I don't know exactly but you can surely find maps online! As for scenery, pretty much anything in the lake region looks amazing. Lapland is always also a good bet, but it gets quite hard to get to. From Turku (Åbo) you can also go see the archipelago, its beautiful aswell! Pretty much any nature in Finland is worth visiting if you put your mind to it. Be careful and have fun! Hope this helps

And if you book your trip well in advance, the bus tickets are really cheap!
@FarooqF-g2x4 ай бұрын
@@syksystransitagency Thank you so much, highly appreciated. The same bus you took is going to Rovaniemi, so basically that is what you meant by Lapland? Though, it has designated stops towards hiking trails and I guess there might be possibility to set up the tent of they do not fall under the category of nature reserves, and national parks, or private property. Yes, if in advance it can cost 50 to 60 EUR from Åbo. However, interestingly, the VR is also taking there in more or less the same price but I am not fully sure. The bus seats (front ones that you paid) would offer great views while train would provide more comfort perhaps. Apart from that there seems to be wild cats but not sure if they bother tents. Hopefully bears and elks wont either. This sounds so fantastic to take a tent and after hoping off the bus in Lapland, figure out a place to set up the tent to spend the night and next day or day after take the bus back.

@@FarooqF-g2x Glad it helped! Yea, Finland can have some fiesty wildlife, but with caution one should be safe. Onnibus also offers routes deeper into Lapland (more north), it's easier since they don't take the tracks. VR also offers a night train service so thats nice, although with an extra cost. Trains have more comfortability, but the bus is definitely cheaper, atleast if compared to the night train!
@FarooqF-g2x4 ай бұрын
Sad that the front window was not cleaned! You should really take this up with the company so they can pay attention to this.
@syksystransitagency4 ай бұрын
It happens, in the summer when it doesn't rain that much, sand and just other dirt and dust hit the window, unfortunately thats the reality of long distance buses
@FarooqF-g2x4 ай бұрын
@@syksystransitagency I noticed that it was right there from the beginning of your journey, what I meant was that at least before starting the journey the windows must be cleaned. You are paying extra for those seats and in general the cleaning standard should be maintained as has been the tradition. If customers do not raise the voice in such issues, it may soon become "normal" as in many other countries, unfortunately. Of course during the trip dust and sand will hit but before starting the journey the cleaning should be done it would take few minutes but not more than 15 I guess.
@syksystransitagency4 ай бұрын
@@FarooqF-g2x Absolutely, you are right! Most of the buses have wipers installed for the upper windows too, but im not sure if all. Onnibus is getting new buses at the moment and they will have them if im not mistaken, that should make cleaning easier

Nicely made video, and good to see someone who appreciates flying in a jet plane - I too find it amazing to be zipping along at 500-600mph and 8 miles up, and the surface of your tea is hardly shaking. A lot of boring people moan about "not enough leg room" - they could stump up for 'Business Class'.... or walk!

@syksystransitagency Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, all common transit modes have their uses, trams and light rail too! But for the large city of Copenhagen, and its narrow streets downtown would not make for a good place for trams, sadly. A metro can cover more distance and do so safer underground, away from streets and vehicles. A metro can also support larger capacities needed with keeping a big city running. Thanks for the comment!
@syksystransitagency Жыл бұрын
To add to this, Copenhagen is in fact building a light rail, to work as a circular service for the western half of the city. This will work to accommondate for trips that do not need to enter the city itself to reach their destinations. Smart! This is a brilliant way for Copenhagen to benefit from light rail :)
@msmediaab Жыл бұрын
That argument is just as stupid. I can’t imagine how the traffic in Stockholm would work without the metro, to mension one city. Every mode of transportation has it own purpose. And Stockholm and Copenhagen and the other Nordic metro cities (Helsinki and Oslo) is not even large cities compared to Tokyo, Moscow, Paris, London and New York. Metro’s might be stupid where you live, but in almost every greater city in the world they are the cornerstone of transportation.
@anotherelvis7 күн бұрын
The streets of Copenhagen are fairly narrow, and we prioritized bike lanes, so underground metro was a good fit for us - and it runs fast.

@@syksystransitagency all sets should be repainted by 2024 and fully refurbished by 2025. It’s a slow progress, because the two maintenance facilities can only refurbish 2 or 3 sets at one time. For now, about 8 or 9, maybe more, trains have been repainted. 2 SE sets (The shorties) and the rest are SA sets (The long bois). These trains are between 26 and 16 years old. The oldest set, SA 8101, entered service in 1996, the youngest, SA 8205 entered service in 2006.
