I lost a big trout on worm as a kid from the outflow pool of Yew Tree Tarn. Windermere is a polluted mess now. I'd try the River Troutbeck

Where do you get a permit for river troutbeck, we have a caravan at white cross bay and looking to do some fishing for browns in tarns/lakes or rivers

Hi without sounding like fool.. I've just got back into fishing after 20 year break and I also do a lot of wild camping and hiking in the lake district in the northern areas of North Yorkshire.. I've been to the lake District many but I'm looking for information of who you need to for fishing in some of the tarns and rivers..
@sallyscottages10 ай бұрын
Hi Shaun - it will really depend where exactly you're fishing. The blog that accompanies this video goes into some more detail about licenses and will point you in the direction of some of the appropriate contacts: www.sallyscottages.co.uk/guides/top-11-fishing-spots-cumbria-and-lake-district

We've just returned home after staying here for Christmas. Absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Very comfortable and well equipped for cooking a festive feast for a large family holiday. The walks up the mountain directly out the back of the cottage are incredible, no matter what the weather! We hope to return to Hollin How in the near future. 🥰

Breath taking beauty. I love the lake district and visited around 64 times since 1976. That year I baked in the hot sun and have never experienced heat like it in the UK. It was the best summer ever but a little too hot and dry. Global warming? They want to go back to the summer of 1976. Thanks for sharing

Hello Victoria - the owners have chosen to have this property as an adult-only escape, but we have a lot of family friendly cottages here: www.sallyscottages.co.uk/family-cottages.

Hi Thomas, it was evening when we filmed this so dark outside, so we unfortunately couldn't get a good view of the garden. This property is no longer available to let, but we have photos of our cottages - including gardens - on the website at www.sallyscottages.co.uk.

Don't think this is Ritsons force that you get to via the rear of the Wasdale head inn. This looks like Nether Beck that flows down to wastwater from between Mddle Fell and Yewbarrow. About 2019 they completed a great and totally invisible hyrdo electric scheme in Nether beck.

A little research is required by anyone wanting to take advantage of some of these excellent picnic spots. For example, a picnic at Easedale Tarn needs to be preceded by a rigorous two mile hike up (approx 700ft climb,) from Grasmere village, (or from the nearest road) via Sour Milk Ghyll. Beautful scenery on the way, but carrying your picnic in a large hamper brought in the boot of the car, could cause difficulties.
@sallyscottages3 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right Dave, and thank you very much for highlighting this! The video is just a brief overview of some fabulous picnic locations, and the blog it links with (in the comments) gives a bit more information. I hope you enjoyed the video!
