That sucks man i hope u get your frs fixed I was in that boat I ended up buying another e90 with a bad oil pan leak i got dirt cheap just to daily because the r&d on this car actually took years I’ve been at this 3 years now changing the setup adding things overcoming issues for more power gains and I hardly got drive time out of it but was constantly working on it. But that same n/a e90 just took all kinds of abuse and loved it I use to slide the n/a e90 every time I drove it so even without boost these cars are sick af 👍

@rumrunnersracing they're definitely fun af NA. I ended up having the crankhub spin on mine on Tuesday but got it retimed and its better than it has in a while. Definitely a platform that's deserving all the revent r&d

@@kingfinessing6580 with my turbo manifold setup there’s no clearance for anything over 3” to fit behind the manifold I actually had to bend part of the pipe in the vice just to make room. Trust me this thing sounds nasty when you get hard into the boost.

@@kingfinessing6580 I made this with my Amazon welder 👨‍🏭 and straight pipe I bought from my local exhaust shop it’s a literal straight pipe under the car from the the Downpipe to the rear then there’s a single 45 bend to set the tailpipe where it needs to be I’ll put up a video about it my buddys get a kick out of it 😆

@@kingfinessing6580 hasent hit the dyno yet I got the engine together and in the car then my throw out bearing started to go so I just pulled the trans last night getting it back together tmrw then break in then dyno. Last setup I made a bit over 600whp on the dyno but we had to back it off due to intake temp issues so it sat around 480whp we’re going to shoot for over 600 on the hub dyno to make it one of the highest hp n52 motors around

@@jeffthekiller6648 in this video they’re completely stock I didn’t open this engine just added the turbo and fueling mods with a standalone ecu. Since this I’ve swapped to low compression pistons and gapped the piston rings for higher boost. Those videos are on the way soon the car goes to the dyno in the spring to get dialed in.

@ I was going to upgrade rods but they are forged from factory so if they fail then I’ll swap in the next build the main thing this build has going is it’s the only one to use boost and valvetronic functionality the n54 dosent do that. If I ever get sponsored I will definitely be willing to experiment more with these bmw platforms 👨‍🔬 🧪 closed deck and getting steel sleeves with water methanol injection and aftermarket head studs it would make big power I have a ported head I’m working on as well that’s going to be put in next season after I dyno it and see what gains it gives me.

When you see the video where I show the damage Its crazy it started at all and I was able to drive it into my barn I’m surprised it didn’t lock up the cyl6 was missing like 20% of the bottom of the piston. This is engine #2 that this happened to running 14psi so I did an overhaul on engine #3

Yea it’s was piston #6 ring land let go since this video I’ve rebuilt the engine with new low compression pistons and gapped the rings to 0.023 so it’s ready to see 18-20psi but my clutch slave cylinder quit on me so that’s my newest issue 😅

Is there a way you can put it in the description that how many it should be gap and how many times we should spend the grinder also what tools to use so we can start gapping the piston ring and also where should we be at on the piston ring?

@@Elbmwenthusiast there’s no set spec for gapping rings u do it for how much boost you plan on running you only need one tool the piston ring grinding unit my buddy used in the video and we recommend doing 5 rotations then measure then another 5 it’s better to go slow because if you take to much material off there’s no going back. Both top rings get gapped and the oil ring at the bottom gets left alone I shot for 0.023 stock was 0.013 you could just go for that. How much boost do you plan on running with your setup?

@@rumrunnersracing OK I’ll go off base with the recommendation that you gave me cause I’m trying to aim for at least 19 psi if possibility, but you’re already doing all the things ahead of me what I’m doing because I’m already rebuilding my engine as well with the n52 that already has 150 K mileage I’m learning from you because halfway through I’m already buying all the parts to throw a turbo on it

Glad I could help pave the way but I would start lower boost and work your way up I would thrash it at 10-12psi work out the kinks of the build if there is any then work your way up. Also tuning is key when running high boost you will not be able to rely on any remote tunes or anything you get online you will want real time tuning or the motor will just blow the head off. That being said the one thing I didn’t address is how strong stock head studs are will they be able to handle 18-20psi I’m not sure 🤔 but to help the situation I will be adding water methanol injection to keep intake temps down that’s another crucial part of the setup hot intake temps and high boost will also blow the engine. What is your plan for tuning?

@@rumrunnersracing my plan was going to Stage FP for tuning for turbo. I also was looking into 22 RPD which I heard from both parties they are good but as you said, I think remote tuning is not as good for turbo because yeah you might end up blowing a head gasket so what I’m going to do is an ECU exchange or buy an AEM ECU for a piggyback just in case or just ship my car all the way out there lol but I heard stories about they’re tuning capabilities with turbo and superchargers and they are pretty good and as well as 22 RPD, but yeah as you said, let me start off low first start before I go high

@@Elbmwenthusiast nice man sounds sick also you will have to lock your valvetronic at whatever height you want to run because other standalones or piggyback ecus wont have the ability to control valvetronic that’s y my car made such good power my ecu is custom made by my tuner to use full valvetronic function with boost you man be able to snag one of the first ones my tuner is finalizing it over this winter before he makes a run of them. He’s just working on all the automatic functions because testing was all done on my car and i converted this car to manual almost immediately after I got it. My tuners website is www.popformance.com he’s a Tuning wizard and makes ecus and all sorts of stuff you could inquire about tuning and the standalone development thro his website his names Patrick tell him Matt with the e90 gave u the info 👍. Got that long throw 😆 but she bangs the gears pretty good I’m not a fan of short throw shifters it’s to much travel from the shifter to the hydro e brake. This way u swap back and forth easily.

@@thecrazyy2O4 I don’t get the question lol any n/a car can be turbocharged Ls motors never came turbo but boosting them is the easiest way to make massive power. It is a hassle that’s for sure but if your a car guy hassle is just part of the game. You could run low boost and be fine but I test the limits and slowly upped the boost until something broke and now I’ve rebuilt the engine to overcome the issues that stopped me from going higher then 14psi but with the time and money I put in personally it’s not worth it but I pave the way for other people to be able to boost and know what Theyr getting into then they can decide if it’s worth it and for most ppl It’s not 🤷‍♂️ but for a select few die hard car guys it is 💪😎 built not bought isint for everyone lol

@@Serqz yea this was only practice laps my kids were to sun strokes to stay the whole time they run this drifting from 3pm-11pm then it’s open drift after that it’s pretty sweet u can camp overnight to I’ll be doing that next season when my cars ready to party

@@LapDeleted nope that’s with a fully stock un opened engine this time around I added lower compression pistons and opened the gap from .013 to .023 for this 18-20psi setup. These cars should be able to run 7-10psi no issues with proper fueling a good tune and decent intake air temps .

I’ve changed a lot on this car abs is deleted and a hydro e brake was installed and af was completely removed as well as both downstream o2 sensors so the cel could be any or all of those things 🤷‍♂️ 😆

@@IzzysMultiVerse as long as the engine is healthy and your fueling and tuning are good that’s the sweet spot most people just run the 7lb wastegate spring for the turbo and u will be in the safe zone

I assume he’s using water/methanol injection setup for cooling and fueling also if he runs e85 it’s a lot easier to hit that 500 my setup is tuned on 91 pump gas with no methanol even a basic setup with meth keeps cylinder temps so much cooler and avoids the piston rings from touching so you can run more boost and more timing safer on e85 with methanol ill be adding meth to my setup but the kits expensive so It won’t be right away I’m going to see how much power I can make without it on 91 pump gas and this massive front mount intercooler and my ported headlight intake it keeps intake temps a lot cooler then taking air from the engine bay.

@@naird1064 yea buddy going for gold I’ve made 600whp but it wasent a reliable let’s go drifting and bang the limiter 600whp we had to dial it back to the 500whp range and at 14 psi it blew ring lands anyway so this setup is made to run higher boost gapped piston rings and lower compression pistons she should be able to really move 😜

@@jeffthekiller6648 nope the block is all stock still haven’t found the limitations on the block itself the main issue is these cars will break piston ring lands when you push it over 10psi due to such a tight ring gap from factory. The added heat from boosting over 7-10psi is enough to blow it especially how I drive the car 😆 Ill have to check with a magnet tonight in the spare block to see if it’s sleeved but I’m pretty sure it’s an aluminum sleeve in an magnesium block coated with anti friction coating

@@jeffthekiller6648 yea I’ve made 600 I’ve just never blown a wrist pin it’s usually bottom of the piston chunks off also not many ppl gap the the rings for boost so the higher compression with boost would expand the rings they touch and blow the wrist pin my car had headlight intake and the biggest intercooler I could buy so my intake temps and fueling were perfect my issue was the compression ratios which in this build I brought down pretty significantly and running valvetronic will give me the added power no one else could get because my standalone was custom made to support valvetronic it’s something my tuner is developing it’s pretty sweet

@@SV867 that’s a hard one it’s a purpose built drift car so u less I do a roll in third gear shes spinnin 😆 I just got my motor moved to the barn so the car will be back in action with a rebuild for more boost I’ll make sure to do some highway pulls and get more daily driving footage.

@@SV867 around 480whp if I had to guess we hit 600whp on the dyno but had to back it off the valvetronic hit to hard it made 600@4500rpm and made 600ftlbs of torque and that was to low in the rpm to make that much torque

@@naird1064 I have a few videos on my channel in what you need to to for low boost on a stock motor without doing any internal work. I’ve also got a build where I open the motor and swap lower compression pistons into it and gap the piston rings to run more boost if you want to check it out the first video is what you need to get started. These motors are fine for 7psi with good fueling and a tune it really wakes the car up on so many levels.

@@naird1064 you would be in the 300 whp area maybe a bit better it really depends on tuning how aggressive the timing is and how good your fueling is like if you run e85 you can get more aggressive timing without knock so you can make more power on 7psi then someone restricted to 91 octane pump gas but regardless low end you should sit low to mid 300’s tune depending

Yup that trans is stout af it’s handled all Kinda of abuse including testing launch control where I bent both sections of driveshaft and sheared the teeth out of my diff and tore 4 of 6 bolts out of my guibo 😅 but the trans was fine tho and I slam gears all the time with it.

No the trans is still going strong that was me missing 4th hard 😆 that is fully stock compression never opened this motor at all just supporting mods and good tuning and fueling but they are high compression motors so I pulled it and am currently swapping to low compression pistons that will taken it to 9:3:1 from 10:7:1 and I’m falling the piston rings because stick ring gap on these cars is really tight

@@Serqz no the main thing is not falling piston rings when you boost the car. Also boosted cars like lower compression I added the low compression pistons so I could go more then 14psi and add timing and it makes the whole setup safer so I can thrash on it this is a drift car I’m going to compete with. N51 I believe runs Lower compression from factory. Also I never mention it but in these videos my exhaust manifold cracked in 3 of 6 exhaust ports so this is the slowest the car ran. Since this I’ve made a completely new manifold that’s way stronger than

@@Serqz you will still want to open up on the ring gap if you wanna hang out around 14psi or you will likely blow a piston ring land I’ve done it twice so far before I checked stock ring gap on n52 it’s real small like 0.011-0.013 I gapped mine to 0.023 so I can shoot for 18-20psi

@@sujsjsnsn nope this is 91 pump gas with a massive intercooler and ported headlight intake to keep intake air temps as cold as possible so we could push the limits with the boost with water meth injection it could have maybe run a bit more 🤔 but my rebuild I’m currently doing we’re looking it run 18-20psi and see how she likes it with the valveteonic/boost combo it should be a weapon

For engine management me and my tuner worked together to developed a full standalone ecu he designed and built that’s plug and play for the n52 after trying to use the rusefi standalone and there was a lot it couldn’t do so he made his own my tuner is like modern day tony stark the standalone he made is the only standalone that gives you valvetronic control with boost. And For fueling I have an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator Porsche 660cc injectors and an aeromotive aftermarket fuel pump and a second fuel pump acting as a transfer pump to keep gas in the main pump side

@@Anu-dn7hb I haven’t done anything internally you need the supporting mods like fuel pump injectors and a tune but yea they can run 7-10psi without issue not opening the engine at all. Since this I’m doing another series on the new build where I do open the motor and do some internal mods gap piston rings and install low compression pistons to run more boost

@@6mtcruiser gt35 from Amazon funny this pull the exhaust manifold is in the middle of ripping itself apart I’m honestly surprised it pulled so good 4 of 6 ports were cracked pulling away from the flange. After this video is when I took it all apart for the mk4 manifold and its stout af definitely going to handle the abuse

Hey thanks for liking the video, the plan was to hone that block but to speed things up I bought a scrap yard block that’s in damaged to put the new pistons into just gapped the rings for it last night I’ll be posting that video soon turns out these cars have crazy tight ring gap from factory that’s why they break ring lands.

I wanna try to shoot for a semi reliable 600whp the cars made that power before on the dyno but we had to stunt the tune a bit due to intake air temps it would be heat soaked by the second run and start to pull timing so this time around I’ve made ALOT of changes to squeeze out some extra power

with proper fueling and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and a tune it will run 7psi all day on the stock motor without opening the motor to gap piston rings, You could thrash on it all day and you would be fine at 7psi when you get 10-12psi your in the yellow area where u want to open the motor and gap the piston rings for the added boost and you want great cooling for intake air temps and dissa flap will snap off at this pressure inside the intake manifold so it needs to be deleted if you wanna run 10-12psi

@@owenhvc6474 nope I have to work with what I got mostly no money for new manifolds most parts I get from the local scrap yards to keep these builds alive my kids come first car hobby gets whatever change trickles down to me 😆 this manifold will work fine I try to stay pure to n52 parts because Theyr so plentiful in my local scrap yards now days you never see any 335i’s around the scrap yards 🤷‍♂️

No problem I’m glad I can inspire that’s what these videos are all about and Yea it is for sure possible to sand and make it look good I’m just a function over fashion guy so I leave it raw my buddy is all about grinding and making it look good, But if your fiberglass heat wrapping then I wouldn’t bother once it’s wrapped it looks sweet and no one will see the welds 😅

@@SLVR2-z8y with proper fueling and supporting mods I would say 12psi wouldn’t hurt it if you wanna play safe without gapping piston rings if you gap rings and your looking to thrash it and want all the ponies 14psi with meth injection I would call a safe bet with a reliable tune you could push more but your head studs will be the next issue going past 15psi

Please don't worry about the hate comments. There are a lot of people who are dependent on you for their own N52 to shine in the future. There are only a handful of people who are working on these N52s and you are one of them engineers what u are doing will make our way to 500 wheel inshallah in the future. @@ayaansayeed425 hey thanks man I appreciate hearing that it’s hard pressing forward especially supporting a wife and 3 kids means I gotta use alot of scrap yard parts and fabricating but it shows my kids hard work and determination pay off not 😎 many ppl are about the n52 but I’m way to deep in the rabbit hole to get out now 😆. I’ve got lots more to come I’m glad these videos are helping the n52 community 👍 my goal is to break the 600whp mark reliably to thrash this car at some drift events.

How does this kit feel? Is everything branded BMW or OE as described by the seller or are they fakes? In their pictures the pistons seem like there are made by Mahle

@@n00b1n4t0r the kit all looks legit my only issue is how the rod bearings were packaged they were not individually boxed like it shows in the pic but they look oem I think I’ll send it with them my new motor gets picked up Monday so I’ll have this together and in the car a week or 2 from then. My block has a bad cylinder wall it got scorned by the piston ring land letting go so I had to get a replacement
