Hey, thanks for the lectures ..it really help understading the world of thermodynamics...I want to ask some redicioulous question and I hope you have the time to answer How come you always assume the energy to be a state functions... I don't really get it.. let's take kinetic energy as an example... I saw tons of lectures that assume that it is a state function but no one ever has provided a prove mathematically.... I have done the mathematical expressions myself and I get it to be non-exact so how it is a state function if it is non-exact ..

This is where thermodynamics stands. The thermodynamic description of equilibrium situations is fulfilled perfectly. But this can not be said about non-equilibrium situations. Quote: "The thermodynamics of irreversible processes has not yet achieved a phenomenological formulation and a methodology which can be considered satisfactory." Source: Mesquita, Vasconcellos and Luzzi in 'Irreversible processes in the context of a nonequilibrium statistical ensemble formalism' (1999). And nothing has changed over the last 25 years.

EVERY TIME YOU HEAR THE WORD POTENTIAL HE MEANS POTENTIAL ENERGY. NO POTENTIAL HAS UNITS OF JOULE ... you know.

Im so confused. How can Pa/P be the molar ratio, if P here dosent represent P total after the mixing. The P here represents the pressure of the conponent before mixing, which is not the same at total pressure after mixing... Does this case only hold if pressures of both containers before mixing are the same?

Reminds me of Dr Delton Chen’s paper on the thermodynamics of economy. It’s referenced in “Ministry for the Future” a climate fiction book by Kim Stanley Robinson.
