Tum's 6-year resume: player development for the Phoenix Suns (pre-Ishbia!), grad manager at MSU, prep hoops head coach at Sunrise Christian, and two seasons as a collegiate assistant. Going into year three as a D1 assistant, he will be an associate head coach. At 29, he still participates with the Bahamian national team despite his well-known limitations as a player. He's risen through the coaching ranks and built relationships around basketball. Calling him a "program cheerleader" and acting like he's some ridiculous happy-faced caricature is incredibly reductive - he's thrived in the face of limitations, humble beginnings, and adversity through hard work, faith, and the team he surrounds himself with. It might be a little Ted Lasso-esque, but there are worse things in a prospective assistant or head coach. In a landscape where all of the "haves" will be able to pay for a reasonably talented roster, isn't there something to be said for hiring a guy that brings intangibles and has a history of lifting people up?

The real bummer is that it’s actually a really nice mic with a soundboard. Brand new. We think there’s something about the compression software. I know you’re just being a troll but we’re nearly 250 episodes in and it was a bummer this happened for the first time.

First time writing in and have a question and a comment: Can I root for my kids’ new K-12 school if their mascot is a Wolverine? Thankfully different logo and colors. And I played back the bit about the Honors College/James Madison to my wife. She uses that degree to prove she’s somehow better than me. Not buying it and glad you guys aren’t either!

Can we just admit that college football players are professionals? They should be subject to the same criticism and ridicule as any NFL player who does what is best for them and could care less about "rivalries"

It’s the thing about the NFL I’ve never understood. What’s the rivalry there? You’re all professionals. You likely will be traded or cut at some point. So how could a fan feel the same attachment?

Re: the razor thin balance between player empowerment and enablement. What solutions do ya’ll have to balance NIL/transfer portal? What about a fee going to the athlete’s current school on a percentage increase in NIL at the athlete’s next school? i.e. you can leave with no penalty for the same or less pay. Entering the portal is free, but understanding that where/why you land matters. Exceptions can be made for head coaches leaving, etc.

“Buyouts” likely will become more normal but I don’t know that you’re going to see that level of transparency about what pay is one place to another because of the difficulty in obtaining that information. Have thought a lot about this. Contracts with schools would be a huge step. It won’t solve the problem entirely, but probably reduces attrition to just a handful of names that aren’t a mutual parting of ways.
