When talking about the resurfacing process Craig mentioned it is a "heavy job". The worn spot is a "hole" of course, so the whole rest of the plate has to be brought down it it's level.

Hi, could you clear my doubt. 1. What is different between optical flat and optical parallel? 2. What is the 4 set of optical parallel? What are the different between the 4 pieces? 3. Which one is right selection for micrometer anvil parallelism measurement?
@sflavell91
@sflavell91 Күн бұрын
2. The 4 optical parallels should all be different sizes so that the spindle is rotated a quarter or so per each optical flat used on the measuring faces. This ensures you are not taking the parallelism in one spot when using all 4, thus, giving a better picture of the parallelism. From what I believe.

Sulzer Bros UK used to make HV 11,000 V Boilers, the last one I'm aware of was installed 1983. The boilers ran off peak and water stored at 240 F .

As a chef ice switched jobs at least 4 times this year. Less hours for better pay, paid leave, private medical and all that. I know there's enough places desperate enough to provide that so (as very well experienced michelin level chef) I can happily have another job tomorrow morning

And on the ninth day God looked down at the flourishing workshops and factories on the good earth and said: “These enterprises need a caretaker”. So, God made a quality manager. God said, I need someone who is willing to get up at dawn and work till sunset, understand the line worker and interpret for the CEO, eliminate waste and drive up fear and ask why, why, why, why, why. So, God made a quality manager. God said: “I need someone with the mind keen enough to see the processes as they really are. A soul brave enough to challenge the process flaws, and a heart big enough to make the needed changes while calming the human resistance to change, someone to visit cantankerous customers, tame cantankerous machinery, and reason with cantankerous auditors”. So, God made a quality manager God said: “I need someone to step night, after night, preparing for the big audit, suffer as the auditor identifies non-conformances, accept the blame for management and persist, until discovering the root causes of the broken processes. And once those causes are identified, fixed, verified, validated, I need someone to celebrate the resulting successful certification quietly and alone, because management is as slow to praise as it is quick to fault”. So, God made a quality manager. God said: “I need someone who with little support from operations can form a kaizen team and perform a Gemba walk, someone with skin thick enough to withstand anonymous criticism and outright deceit, who accepts the slings and arrows of those who rarely listen and do not understand when they do, and who knows that corrective actions are opportunities for excellence, not excuses for blame. I need someone who understands that continuous improvement is not a short-term fix or a flavor of the month”. So, God made a quality manager. God said: “I need someone with a broad perspective, wide vision and a healthy sense of comradery with colleagues both in and out of the organization, someone who after more than a full day's work in a factory or at the site is willing to accept the responsibility as chairperson of the local ASQ section and who can craft engaging articles for professional journals, all for the sheer joy of expanding knowledge and promoting quality. I need someone who accepts the benchmarking as a two-way street, that exchanging information is an opportunity as opposed to the threat”. So, God made a quality manager. God said: “I need someone who can function as the glue of the organization even though no one acknowledges that fact, someone who would laugh then sigh and then reply with smiling eyes when well-prepared young assistants said they want to spend their lives doing what their mentor does”. So, God made a quality manager.

This seems like quite the option! Similar power of the 960, with the portability of a 403. Although I do have to disagree with one statement he made regarding the leveling / orient to gravity of the 400s. I believe the 403 can operate without having to level. As long as you can set a reference off the surface or structure being measured, you’d be good.

Wow. Was at the edge of my seat upright watching this. Deep, is an understatement for this piece. I'm no quality manager but these are attributes we as humans should strive towards. My heart at the end was nowhere to be found in my body. Great work quality digest, you did an awesome thing with this...

Enjoyed the interview. It was a great story on membership, diversity, the quality profession, and ASQ's fundamental directions. However, it still misses the boat on how CEOs and top-level corporate executives can make quality a priority in any field of endeavor. Without their buy-in, we will still have the problems cited in this interview such as J&J's stumble regarding COVID vaccines and baby formula, Boeing's issues with regards to the 737 max, and many others. I wish Quality Digest would ask the tough questions regarding not just the quality profession, but ways to obtain corporate buy-in. That seems to be the elephant in the room and perhaps the trade group, ASQE, could play a big role in making that (corporate buy-in) happen.

Companies also reinvented work hours to their convenience and to the hardship of employees. Complete disrespect for peoples personal lives and families. Can't even have pets anymore. You'll probably get a divorce trying to satisfy some sketchy employers unreasonable demands.

Obama killed health insurance, then most companies went to Temp Services and quit offering insurance at all. Then temp service employees are treated as second class next to the old company hires. That puts a bitter taste in your mouth every day your there.
