The way Mephone repressed the issue like he'd done for, well, forever too was also a nice detail (albeit making me upset because... idk I have no excuse other than I'm an avid Taco fan). I love MePhone4 and Taco so much! The character building here is so good, I can’t! 😭 Taco is able to see how awful the challenges are and just wants to free everyone else from the cycle they are trapped in. She tried to motivate the contestants to stop playing and live their own lives. As a result, this makes Taco a perfect enemy towards MePhone. MePhone doesn’t want the challenges to end, because his biggest fear is Steve Cobs finding him and gaining control over his life once more. If Cobs were to find him, or if those contestants were to leave him, everything he built up to would be pointless. He also has a clear identity issue, not knowing who he is outside of the role he forced himself to take on. MePhone decides to leave Taco dead not because he hates her, but because he knows her influence would have a negative effect on everyone else’s survival. If they stop playing, the show ends and, as a result their lives end. Cobs would see no use for the older contestants, so they would be exterminated. This understandably puts more pressure on MePhone than any other contestant. He gets so much crap from the other characters for being careless constantly, when in reality he’s been trying to hold the show together and is struggling to do it properly and ethically. Not to mention his memory issues. So, I guess to summarize this up. MePhone was wrong for not reviving Taco here, from the perspective of someone who doesn’t know his life. But on the other hand, he’s probably struggling the most out of everyone here. A good solution would have been for him to explain himself, but he’s the kind of guy who can’t situate himself under situations of high stress and pressure, which I can completely relate to. (Also, MePad is amazing in this scene too. ❤)
