Courtesy of the lovely Inge for the vocals. I had to do some editing / filtering / gating against the background noise in the beginning. One of the drawbacks of doing it live. So if it sounds a bit unnatural, it's not Inge, it's me. Please be nice.

Great jam! A small remark from a professional video director and editor: stop with the video transitions ;) They exist to signify a jump in time. If you are merely switching from angle to angle and therefore not making a jump in time, you should just use a hard cut. Viewers are actually accustomed to this convention and therefore using a wipe or dissolve transition or whatever when you are only switching angles feels weird and a bit uncanny. Just my 2 cents ;)

Thanks! And that's actually great advice, I just did it because it looked fancy. Next video I'll do without (well next weekend is already edited and uploaded, so the one after that).

I have the SQ1..I'm trying to see how you ran it. Are you running the MIDI into the MIDI of the Edge? Thanks! Awesome sounds. I love the Edge. It's so interesting.

Haha you can look all you want, but I didn't have the SQ1 plugged into the Edge. It just sits there 😅

Awesome! Is everything routed through midi? What box do you use? Also what interface?
@fromhillrecords28 күн бұрын
I have a double setup. I use MIDI over USB for everything. But I also have everything connected with 5 pin MIDI to 3 MIDI Solutions quadra thru boxes, for when I would ever wish to go dawless. Or for when I would ever get some gear that doesn't have MIDI over USB. I use an RME Digiface as my interface with 4x Behringer ADA8200 as my pre-amps.

There's that 1 sweetspot on the Malevolent where the filter will have this weird instable tone. You think you play a higher note....and nope, the Malevolent decides to go down. Happy accidents all around. I'm having trouble thinking of another piece of gear that will do that so well. Any suggestions?

Perhaps far from the obvious, I think the star of this jam is the raw bass from the SE02. With some slight modulation it sounds alive.

I think it would be cool to hear a break and have those chorus voices build by themselves with some space then bring the beat back in. Sounds awesome as is though, nice job!

Hi 👋 würdest du mir bitte verraten wie man so viele synthesizer am besten midi und audio mäßig verbinden kann? Das würde mich brennend interessieren. Danke
@fromhillrecords2 ай бұрын
I understand German (I'm Dutch) but I will answer in English so other people get it. I hope that's ok. You can go different routes. Everything to a mixer and that to an audio interface for example. But I want control over every channel. So I have an RME Digiface which has 4x ADAT IN/OUT. Then I have 4x Beringer ADA8200 which are basically 4x8 pre-amps. Every synth is connected via USB for MIDI (with a couple of USB hubs) to the PC and the audio to a pre-amp. I have a Midronome and/or Keystep for gear that doesn't support MIDI over USB (so far nothing, but there's enough out there that has my attention 😅). I'm planning to re-route everything using patchbays, which is just an extra step between the synths and the interface, but it will allow me to use effect pedals with any synth I want without unplugging them.
@steinsetzerrabe40922 ай бұрын
@fromhillrecordsАй бұрын
@@steinsetzerrabe4092 Oh you will definitely buy the wrong thing at some time haha. I've done a Roland Rubix. I've done a Focusrite 18i8. I've done a mixer. Now I'm doing ADAT and soon I will be doing that + patchbays. You can always sell. The studio evolves in accordance with what I have and what I want to do.
