Very well done and enjoyable. There are some many things that take up our time. Time wasted that can’t never be replaced. This video however was a pleasure to spend time viewing. As winter sets in upstate NY it makes me long for spring already. It is a terrible shame that they can’t will not figure out how to put trails beside old railroads instead of ripping them up. I guess the environmentalist with bicycles and running shoes have the squeakier wheel in Albany.

Used to travel that route up to Old Forge (by car was a salesman) in the 1970s and remember a restaurant in Forestport that served giant stakes. Name escapes me, someone may know.

I am 76 and grew up near Syracuse and have been all over the country. I think the Adirondacks are the most beautiful part of the country. I have taken the Adirondack Scenic train a few times. I also enjoy riding a bicycle but to me it is a shame to tear up rails instead of being able to enjoy a bebeautiful ride from Utica to the Canadian border. You can build bicycle trails but they will never rebuild these rails.

This is very cool. I owned a cabin and property until 2018 that abutted this railroad 1 mile north of Forestport Station. I never rode the railroad, but this makes me wish that I had. Excellent production!

It was a very nice work, congratulations, but I really liked the train ticket image at the beginning of the video, can I learn the names of the fonts in that image, very nice fonts indeed, I would be very pleased if you answer. I will be waiting for your similar works.

Hello, thank you for watching. The fonts on the opening train ticket were purchased from Envato Elements. The fonts are: "Motorcar Excursion, On the..., DATE" is Vultron Regular. "Adirondack Railroad" is Rheatrest, "Remsen NY, Tupper Lake" is Gunberg. "Fall Foliage" is Hamston. Envato is very reasonable priced. You can get these fonts and more on their website: elements.envato.com/

From India. First time saw this video without fast forward. 1. All the carts are made for rain or shine. 2. Photos of the stations and information was really enjoyable. 3. Trees with multi color looked beautiful. Good location for picture post card - a forgotten hobby of present generation. 4. A bit sad to see a train full of wooden logs. I am for preservation of trees. 5. Camera work is good. 6. Many bridges were seen. One or two shots from below the bridges are also welcome. 7. Take a group of engineering students and ask them to draw and analyses the construction of those bridges. 8. Show the present conditions of the stations. 9. I am seventy two years old from India. If someone could sponsor my travel expenses I would like to see all these places.

@railtime9872 4 ай бұрын
Hi, as far as I know you would need to reach out to whatever operator owns whichever car. All operators have to be licensed and insured by NARCOA. I don't know of anybody who rents them. I have seen a few people loan a car to another operator but have no direct knowledge of the details of the arrangement. You can always research, buy a car and try the hobby. Cars will generally hold their value because there are no more being made. Check out Narcoa.org for general info. Also www.narcoa.org/forsale/4sale_want.htm for a few current listings on that site.

But, I doubt I'll ever get back to pay respect to my Dad at his grave. Last time I saw him was when Mom left him in 1965. Oh well, rest in peace Dad, I'll see ya on the other side.

So cool. I live near Balsam, NC and their claim to fame is that until the station was demolished, it was the highest railroad station in the Eastern US (3,304'). Topton NC, which is on the GSMR line, is 2,654', but again, no more operable station there. Dillsboro, NC is 2,060', and is still served by the GSMR...they might have 26' on you!

Us either! We always saw the old hand pump cars featured in movies. Then we found out they were replaced by these motorized versions which ran for 30-40 years. They were all scrapped and replaced by high-rails. For more detail, check out: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railroad_speeder www.american-rails.com/speeders.html

You're obviously not old enough. We called them PutPut cars when I was young. The MOW (maintenance of way) crews used these cars for inspection and other duties on the Right of Way. When "High Gear" came along, companies could put that on vehicles to run both roadways and railroads. This eliminating the need for the motorcars.

Sorry for not getting back sooner... if it wasnt for your ❤ as a reminder, I would've flaked. It was wonderful seeing the section I rode on my own creation, an attachment, that I made for a standard bicycle, an outrigger, and a guide to keep the front bicycle wheel centered on the rail. I spent many years perfecting it in Bethlehem, PA. Since the bicycle steers itself, I rode no-hands most of the way.... it was like flying... slowly... the ride taking 5 hours. I think I made good time... Speed wasn't my goal... but I was in good shape... not so much now. The attachment was encouraged by the guy who designed the 4 wheel railbikes I see parked on sidings... he had a bicycle guide wheel he designed, and wanted me to make it work. Try as I may, I couldn't, until I modified it, driven by the many failures of his design. I did a bit of lathe work, a few more failures, then finally, I got it working well. It wasn't perfect, but I made it up and back with only one derailment. The rails near where I live have hazards the Adirondack Railway doesn't. I got derailed way too often around here. At speed, it proved humiliating, and occassionally, painful. The last rerailment mase me so angry, I dismantled the whole device... back to square one. I've a whole new design on the drawimg board... totally all mine... I'm 73 now. My ride was 23 years ago... You didn't catch my friend's wife. They live along the tracks, above Lake Lila, and Tupper... no highlights of interest for the film maker. Oh well... They're good people... but not particularly railroad nerds. I got an interest in doing this because I was a bicycle nerd, working for Bicycling Magazine... my dad, was the rail fan... I grew up with his train obsession. I'm also a metal worker/mechanic/fixer/maker. Have a nice workshop.
