Iloilo City is a city that has a different vibe from all the other cities in the Philippines. Very European, very Spanish wjth plenty of both heritage and modern Spanish, French, and Italian architecture dating back from the 1800s up to today. Very clean, bikable , walkable . No other city compares.pkrnty of American era parks, Spanish era plazas, public flower gardens, and rhe very popular riverside and Creekside Esplanades with biking lanes. Museums and Art Galleries galore. Many restaurants, stylish cafes, family-run eateries called carinderias, artisanal European style pastry and bakeshops, and of course, the ever-present fastfood stores. Metro Ilollo has rhe most number of Jollibee stores and McDonald's stires in Western Visayas, and the most numverbof 24-hour Mercury Drug stores in Western Visayas. The Good Friday procession brings out from the ancestral houses rfe century-old life-size pasos depicting the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Some of these life-size pasos have statues imported from Spain and have beautiful realistic classic Spanish faces.
