Hello sir, I want to ask something, so right now I'm working on my thesis that analysis a Instagram account, so it included the picture, video and caption, for the caption I use Qualitative content analysis for the method, and for the picture and video I think I want to use a Multimodal analysis. Is the two method can be combined? or I must use all content analysis or Multimodal analysis. Thank you

Hi! I suggest using Multimodal Discourse Analysis instead. There are frameworks that you can use to analyze both the pictures and the captions. From the multimodality perspective, you need to include the analysis of the caption as it is part of the entirety where meanings will be created. Hence, the use of just Multimodal Discourse Analysis to include both photos and captions would be enough. Thanks for reaching out!
