You mean the classic Ariel that Disney hired a queer man to help create? Ariel that was actually inspired by Hans Christian Andersen Mermaid , who wrote it as a love letter to a man who was getting married to another and also to his criticism of the unfair class system of the 19th century? That wasn't woke?

Barbie is just a movie, movies are subjective, and yet there have been folks attacked by those who disagreed on their personal opinions. Some women have made videos demanding others to dump their partners if they didn’t like the movie, which is ludicrous. So it comes as no surprise that the film is perceived as third-wave feminist propaganda, among others. Ken has an antagonist in Barbie Land, but Barbie does not. We are never shown how an idiot like Ken manages to takeover an imaginary land, we are only shown how Gloria (America Ferrera), believing that the Barbies have been “brainwashed”, suggests that they manipulate the Kens. They make the Kens fight each other, but none of the Barbies are shown to fight each other (a little catfight would have been amusing). They mention the awful “Patriarchy” several times over, but never once utter the word “Matriarchy”. Barbie has thoughts of death, when her creator magically appears and shows Barbie what it means to be human (I was expecting disturbing imagery), but it’s just a montage of mothers and daughters (not even any father/daughter or son). Greta Gerwig’s own mother was never a fan of Barbie and discouraged her daughter from playing with them. But Greta has ADHD (which was a late diagnosis) and wanted what all the other girls in her neighborhood were playing with. Now just cuz Greta finally got to play with Barbies doesn’t make her a fan. She directed and co-wrote Barbie together with her husband Noah Baumbach (who didn’t even wanna do it). Greta doesn't really have any clue about Barbie and only sees her as a Stereotypical (Bimbo) doll with no personality. She never bothered to watch any of the animated Barbie movies to get a sense of who Barbie is. She apparently grew up in a household with no television (so no cartoons!). Yikes! Some have cited such films as Legally Blonde, Clueless, and Life-Size, as much better Barbie movies. Their lead protagonists behave exactly the way Barbie would. They may look shallow on the outside, but deep down inside they’re even more beautiful. That’s cuz looks can be deceiving, and don’t judge a book by its cover. Margot Robbie’s Barbie doesn’t have a clue what she wants and is only interested in her needs and not those around her. She abandons Ken and her very own people without a second thought. Rejects everything we’ve come to associate with the iconic doll and walks into a gynecologist’s office in Birkenstock sandals? The irony is that Mattel doesn’t even subscribe to this newfound ingénue, they manufactured dolls of the movie in Barbies likeness, and that includes heels, not icky sandals.

According to Jonathan Decker, a licensed therapist, from the Cinema Therapy channel, there isn't any diagnostic criteria for Stockholm Syndrome. You can watch the video to learn more. In any case, Belle offered to take her father's place in the dungeon, so technically, the Beast didn't kidnap her. And Beast did attempt to be civil towards her, by offering her a room, at the suggestion of Lumiere, and he did allow her to explore the castle, except for the West Wing. He saved her from the wolves, and the two of them did eventually learn to bond over time, by forming a friendship, which had eventually turned into love. There are even some deleted scenes on the DVD, where they're reading Romeo and Juliet together! So cute! It's from the "Human Again" number, which I believe was from the Broadway musical. Also, Emma Watson's Belle had exhibited very few moments of kindness, besides teaching a little girl how to read. Mostly, she was just playing a feminist, or perhaps, semi-feminist version of a well-loved character. The reason why I say semi-feminist is because her intentions are contradictory: She started out teaching a young girl how to read, then invented the washing machine?! What?! In any case, people should stop victimizing Belle. Or any fairy tale heroine, for that matter.

I'll always be onboard with sequels and prequels, as long as they stay true to the essence of the film's settings and characters, like Finding Dory and Monsters University, even when no one asked for them. Which are much more time worthy than ones that disregard both settings and characters for a much more subjective vision of the creative lead, like Lightyear and Toy Story 4.

With Belle, she was originally going to have 2 wicked sisters in the film, like in the original fairy tale. They were deleted however, because the filmmakers felt they were too similar to Cinderella’s stepsisters.
@missanne2908

_Cinderella_ follows a common theme in fairy tales of a good, virtuous girl who undergoes tribulations, perseveres, and ends up winning some good fortune. This usually, but not always includes a prince. A Cinderella who is as nasty and spiteful as her stepmother and stepsisters will never get the prince. The prince is her reward, not her rescuer.
@finland4ever55

Also Cinderella was not a damsel until the third movie. Damsels in distress are in danger. Cinderella was noticeably.... NOT. She was in danger when she almost got driven off a mountain in the third movie but even then she saved herself. Cinderella and Aurora were not damsels, they weren't in danger (or nearly as much as the radical feminists say). Aurora was a damsel for.... hold on..... ONE MINUTE. The fairies changed the spell to sleep instead of death. You should make a video on Sleeping Beauty about how Aurora wasn't a damsel and how it's actually Philip who was the damsel. He got locked in a dungeon. He was actually pretty weak. The fairies saved him from the dungeon. He was overpowered by Mal's guards. Said guards shot at him and tried to drown him. The fairies saved him. The fairies delivered the final blow when THEY stabbed Maleficent. Phil was just holding the sword. And also make a video on how Disney is full of actual damsels but nobody will admit it, and how we call the wrong girls damsels: www.reddit.com/r/disneyprincess/comments/1e1uyr2/rank_these_princesses_from_most_to_least_damselly/ Also I make a lot of OCs. I made an OC who is both a "damsel" and often able to save herself. disneyfanon.fandom.com/wiki/Lorelai_Birdgess

I am not saying his behaviour earlier was acceptable, because it wasn’t, but I also feel like you are glossing over the good qualities the Beast developed following the wolf attack and when she nursed his wounds. He didn’t technically capture her, she offered herself up. Even when she was a “prisoner” the Beast although was mean at first never took the idea of running her life very seriously, and allowed her to run anywhere she liked around the castle with the exception of The West Wing. As bad as he was in the first few scenes in the end he became a better person after he saved her life from those wolves and never cared if she helped him in return because he clearly valued her life over his own. Then when her father was struggling for life in the woods, he lets her go, giving up his chance to be human after falling in love with her. I am not condoning keeping prisoners, but never once did she feel like a hostage and he never even treated her as such even during his worst temper tantrums. In the end, he became more of a human while Gaston descended further into a monster.

I wouldn’t put it as far as giving up her life for her father. She knew she would live through her time in the castle far better than her father could.

Finally, someone talking about this! I remember people talking about what she said so I looked it up and couldn't find the bad part...? She was honest about not loving the cartoon as a kid and was saying about how she's proud to work on this project because it lines up more with her beliefs. I honestly think it's because she's a young woman who's new to acting, of course no one is going to take her seriously, our society as a whole hates women, especially young and pretty ones 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can guarantee if an article was published about the new direction they were taking or a man working for the company said the same thing the reaction would have been completely different. But Rachel is young and new to Hollywood, of course she can't be intelligent or have an opinion. And the backlash about more inclusive casting is ridiculous, who cares what they look like? All I care about is that they can embody the essence of the character, the best actress should get it, regardless of what her skin looks like! I'm white and a HUGE Little Mermaid/Ariel fan and I LOVED Halle Bailey as Ariel, I think her facial acting and her voice were perfect for the character, not one single time did I even think about her skin while watching the movie. Now I will say I wish they'd made her hair a bit more red but I think the color they went with was probably the most flattering on her so I understand. But again, our society hates women so of course they're going to tear down anything made specifically for us 😞

No need to be an expert to know why people hated Rachel. First, she came off as extremely arrogant, to most people she's a young actress who's just starting out and she was talking as if she's this seasoned actor and was helping rewrite the story. Second, while modifying stories slightly is okay, she wanted to erase something fundamental to the original story, and that's love between her and the prince, you can be on whatever side you want, but you can't argue that Snowhite's story isn't fundamentally built on "love". People felt like she wanted to promote the single lifestyle, which many feminists do promote. On top of that, people were already angry at the race change especially when the character is called "Snowhite", which she isn't.
@abdelhak_13
@abdelhak_13 3 ай бұрын

I think that what really makes her unlikeable and a villain, is that in the first song we already know that she knew about the wishes and how not all of them get granted, as well as only caring about that "issue" once it affects her. If she was a newcomer to Rosas, it would make so much sense as it would show that she didn't know. Also, she kinda turned Magnifico into a villain by turning the town against him

Nope. The criticism and disappointment in the recent marvel films is justified and they deserve the hate and commercial failures of their recent flops. The earlier Thor movies may not have been great but it was still consistent with setting the tone for the future team up movies and it had heart. Nobody is saying that every movie has to be like “endgame” or “infinity war” but their recent movies are just not even entertaining anymore, the new characters are lackluster, the plots are unfocused and the over use of comedy takes away from the stakes of any serious tone. The over saturation of bombarding the audience with 1,000 movies and shows a year is the literally definition of quantity over quality
