I didnt understand cutting a slit into the bag when shrink wrapping. Stick a plastic tube inside of bag before you zip tie it thrn the air will escape. Pull tube then finish zip tie to seal.

Thanks for your video. Quick question... I noticed your drywall side walls were installed first when you installed your cedar ceiling. We plan to have cedar ceiling with drywall side walls. Just wondering if we should install the ceiling first and then the walls or walls first and then ceiling?

When you poured the water-seal into the sprayer, it was white. While you were spray onto the building it did not look white, but clear. Further, at no time did I see any run down the boards. I just tried to spray some of the same product, but the spray was inconsistent, even stopping at times. It was white when it came out and stayed white until I brushed it with my brush. I had to finish up with the brush only because of the inconsistent spray that was getting as much on the ground as on the boards. First of all, my sprayer is an ACE Hardware 2 gal. I tried several pressures and spray patterns by adjusting the cone angle. When the spray actually sprayed, the cone was well defined and covered about half my 2x6, which is quite smooth compared to your rough sawn. That could be the cause of the runs that were all over the place, and dripped to the ground a lot before I could get my brush on the sprayed parts. The plugging and flow stoppage could be a function of the nozzle design, or any number of things that I haven't even thought of. I don't know how consistent the viscosity of the Thompson's product is, but when I finished with the brush there was a lot of white stuff of cottage cheese consistency in the bristles of the brush that wiped out with a paper towel. Bottom line, I'm glad yours worked and disappointed that mine did not. I may never find out the problem because I'll be using a brush for the next coat and succeeding projects. I'm looking at Olympic Water-guard for when my first gallon of Thompson's is gone. I forgot to say that I didn't like cleanup, because the stuff is sticky, and requires soap as well as water for cleanup. I'll be wearing a pair of my nitrile gloves next time. It isn't toxic, just sticky. Thanks for the video!

I don’t recall you mentioning how you determined where to set the ledger board height for a smooth transition from your existing interior floor to the addition. Minor point I know. Also: So when you were placing the floor joists on the ledger board you mentioned adding the joist hangers after. I assume you placed the joist boards flush with the ledger at the top and toenailed them in place, but what about the other end? How much planning did you have to do on the joist boards to get a flat floor?

What are your thoughts on using 1/2" foam board spacers in the headers instead of plywood? That would reduce the thermal bridging a bit.

Yes, you could if that's what you want to do.
@spacklerat321415 күн бұрын
@@BreakFreeHomestead got ya, thanks for the reply! Idk why but when I saw the window headers it immediately made me think you could one day support a sliding door here with one header! Everything looks great Though 👍 The Only Thing I Would Have done Differently is Try To Keep The interior Ceiling Hight On the second floor to help make it feel more open . I’m looking to add an addition to my grandmothers house I’m in the process of buying. Im a drywall contractor/ interior Framer. Would you mind sharing how much material was for a project like this?

Very nice. I like the effort made to make it as simple as possible for others. But you also look very handy around machines. Me, not so much. Also, the part to install the belt around the new pulley was not really shown and I can see this aspect of the repair job getting messy or complicated for me.
