Hey Bro. LOve ur videos. I have to ask u something. I have planted 2 haas, 1 fuerte, 1 bacon and 1 stewarts mexocola. The haas is standing for 2 months now but dont see any new growth. The fuerte has tons of new growth and the bacon also shows height. The mexicola shows no obvious growth but looks like its getting taller. Any idea why haas shows no new growth? ty man.

Rent a tiller or buy one, spread 777 fertilizer and lime till the ground then add more triple 7 fertilizer do a wide variety of grass and grazing mix seeds also throw in some winter food plot seeds plant a few sage bushes around the border and a couple in center also plant a fig tree in very center it will provide a food source and shade when it gets older.

Damn in Florida it took my tree 8 years to fruit. I tried growing 4 at the same time, but my father-in-law replanted them and 3 died.

I'm assuming you said "Willamette" berries? The correct pronunciation is "Will-am-met". I said it like you until I moved briefly to Oregon ("Or-i-gen", "Or-again").

Wow! We have so many nasty brambles & few berries, such a waste. You got more berries on that bush than what we've gotten on our invaders in 17yrs.

And ants still walk on the Vaseline
@naomi80972 ай бұрын
How do you deal with pests? My apple trees get a little brown spot from a pest and cause them to fall off prematurely. They are covered in ants as well.
@AmyWilliams19142 ай бұрын
I had the same experience. I had ants and aphids on my young cretemyrtle tree. So after looking Online, I saw the recommendation to use Vaseline around the trunk. I did that. The tree is now rotten all around the trunk where the Vaseline was, and none of the branches except for one little one are producing leaves. I hope it didn't kill the majority of the tree, but it appears to have. When you touch the trunk where the Vaseline use to be, the trunk is mushy.😢

I would never recommend topping. 20 yrs in Florida as an arborist and it’s never a good idea to top any tree. Especially a younger newer planting. You’ve introduced a wound that will invite pests, fungus and possible disease. Now it can rot out on the main stem from rainfall. Perhaps a better method would be to utilize the espeliar technique to provide more width. Or even using wire to bend branches away like a bonsai. Please don’t too soft wooded fruit trees.

Where I live the frost and wind keeps the avocado trees tops down to size naturally, but doesn't seem to stop them they are getting tall, but the issues is getting sun on the lower half for flower production once they get real tall so I'm using grow lamps on the lower half that's shaded, but I never top my trees topping is bad for the trees health
@theorangetreehomestead66605 ай бұрын
Interesting. Sounds like you could do some careful pruning to open up light to the lower levels.

I am soaking whole grains overnight and adding to the coop run more then the chickens can eat daily. They till the seeds in deeper and cause them to sprout giving them a treat a few days later. I also put a ring of wire or a bucket over some of the areas for a week allowing the greens to grow 5-6 inches then turn them loose on it. The soil no longer looks like cement and I know they are getting good seeds, sprouts and greens by making them do all the work.

@thedouglaspodcast5 ай бұрын
Most people say it usually takes up to a decade or more 🥲
@Wolf-kh5rp5 ай бұрын
Actually that's just a fraction of the time it would take an avocado grown from seed to bear fruit, normally it takes a decade and a half, and most likely the fruit that it bears won't taste good, depends on the luck of the grower.

They may be weeds to us, but they play a major role in livestock’s nutrition especially the red, white and purple clover. I just let my pastures grow wild and the chickens will pick out and eat what they need. Just keep sowing seed monthly because they will eat more and more the older they get. Small pebbles are good for a chickens crop to break up the food. I give mine oyster shell and also grit. Giving them plenty of greens and vegetables will also help create better tasting eggs.
