I was in love once.. met this nice girl, a girl who actually understood me just like I understood her, which was a new experience for both of us at the time. We would talk for 8 hours per day at least, we had this friendly competition on who could wake up and message the other first, then we’d talk until one of us would eventually fall asleep with their phone still in their hand. It didn’t take long for us to make our relationship official, in fact it only took about 2 weeks for us to go from strangers to confessing our love to each other.. “I love you” first time I had ever heard those words said to me by a woman who wasn’t my mom, just like me saying “I love you” to her was the first time she had ever heard those words come from a man who wasn’t her dad.. Months go by, we’re still talking 8+ hours per day, we spent hours and hours discussing our future and how we’re going to meet one day and become successful together and get married and have kids, etc.. Fast forward a few more months and we’ve already hit the 1 year milestone of being together, January 27th.. it didn’t feel like 1 year had gone by, in fact it felt like only yesterday that we met and talked for the first time. Before we know it it’s Valentine’s Day and I couldn’t have possibly been any happier, my life felt complete that moment I woke up and reached for my phone to message her good morning.. but she doesn’t respond. I wait hours, still no response. At this point we had got so comfortable that we’d both exchanged our account info, so I log in to her first account.. I see no activity. I log into her second account, nothing.. I then log into her third account that she’s said she never uses, but I thought I’d check there anyways.. and there she was, messaging another man and telling him how she loves him more and how she plans on breaking up with her “stupid boyfriend” soon.. Since then I’ve attempted to end myself more times that I can count, I haven’t felt happiness since I woke up on Valentine’s Day… Now whenever I see a happy couple or anything to do with love, all I can think of is how.. I was in love _once_
