Few alive today know the name Will Rogers; his homespun wisdom is Inspiration at its finest - and most pure. The odd part is that nearly 100 years ago, he is nearly cynically showing us how little things have changed (for us 'little people'.) It's a joy to watch the last of this country's "real" public figures.

My dad was born 1918. In 1931 he told me if you had a single dime you were good to go. They had to make their own fun. That was in Sherman Texas.

What a wise man, country wise. Reminds me of my dad, who was born a month after the stock market crash. The poor are not evil or lazy or bad, and certainly not the cause of the depression.

I was lucky enough to learn about my Cherokee cousin Will Rogers as a boy. He's been my hero ever since. The things he could do with a rope were astonishing. I've never seen anyone accomplish what he did. He was a great Cherokee American whose voice we need today.

Need some of his wisdom in modern times. My grandparents and their families were all from the areas nearby Will Rogers birthplace in Oklahoma. They were of the generation born about 1900’s. They spoke of him often , when I was a youngster in 1950’s-1960’s.

Will was to America what Ron Thomason is to bluegrass music. I love them both.
