Hey thanks so much for doing these, your videos have been incredibly helpful to my learning over that past couple years. I'm the type of person who does well writing and watching something before it fully sinks in. I also like to number the steps so that I ensure I'm doing all 28 movements but I fear I may have combined two of the moves into one as I counted 27 moves. Any chance you could take a look at my break down and let me know which one of these I combined into two? Also, apologies if I got any of this wrong... 1. To the **left**, back stance & side block 2. Short punch with right hand 3. Feet back together, arms across the chest, chambered to the right 4. To the **right,** back stance & side block 5. Short punch with left hand 6. Feet back together, arms across the chest, chambered to the left 7. Front stance → two handed block 8. Chamber in side stance → front stance→ X Block low (fist closed) (right hand on the inside) 9. Chamber in side stance → front stance → X Block high (hands open) (right hand on the inside) 10. Turn hands → Right facing out, left facing in → raise right knee for a knee kick while simultaneously bringing hands together in a perpendicular formation above the knee 11. High knife hand strike with left hand while knee is still raised 12. Middle punch in front stance, followed by kihap 13. Turn 180 degrees → outside inside block (feet are in a wide crossed leg stance) 14. Outside, Inside kick into horse stance while doing a low block 15. Look back to the left (facing starting direction), cross arms (left underneath) and do a backhand strike 16. Outside, Inside Kick, kicking the open hand into horse stance while landing an elbow strike into the hand 17. Transition into cross-legged stance while performing back fist strike (right elbow is supported by left fist) 18. Transition into back stance with a high right hand block (or back fist maybe?), while left fist crosses torso 19. Turn to left (facing backwards direction) and step into back stance while blocking high with the right, while left fist stays across chest 20. Step with left and jump into a low crossed leg position with right leg in the front, left leg in the back while performing a cross block with the arms (back straight) 21. Stand up in front stance to the right while performing double fist block 22. Turn 180 degrees (now facing front again), and perform low spear hand in front stance 23. Transition to back stance, perform high rear hand (back fist with right arm/spear hand) while performing low hand block with left fist 24. Bring front foot in (left foot) while breathing in and breath out while standing up straight 25. Mountain block (two inside outside blocks very high) while twisting 180 degrees (legs stay crossed) 26. Transition to front stance and perform spear hand with left hand 27. Transition to back stance, perform high rear hand (back fist with left/spear hand) while performing low hand block with right fist, followed by Kihap) Thanks again for the help and for taking the time to do these videos!

Wow, you have a great eye for detail and an excellent breakdown! I'm glad my videos are helpful to you. I separate 16 as two different: outside-inside kick into the open hand, a little pause holding balance, then landing into the horse stance, and elbow strike into the hand. With 18, you can use it as an uppercut or an under-hook. I hope this is helpful and thank you very much for watching!👊

You do saber classes ...? What are your thoughts on comparison to sabor techniques with your tang Do Do weapon training?
@Rockholdkarate8 күн бұрын
I do a monthly lightsaber class and also teach Kummooyeh (Korean Sword Martial Art) classes in my school. Technically Tang Soo Do doesn't have weapons, they were kinda bolted on for tournaments. So you'll see a hodgepodge of weapons and similar variants of forms. I personally train in other weapon martial arts: Kali, Haidong Gumdo, Kummooyeh, Iaijutsu, Naginatajutsu, Chinese Swords, and Pole Arms for 20 years or more. Thanks for watching!
@mig21able9 күн бұрын
At the beginning of the form it sounds like you say the middle assisted block is Sang Sudo Maki 2:05 and the three at the end 3:58 it sounds like you say Sang Soo Maki. Are these different blocks. Also what is the correct spelling? Thank you sir.
@Rockholdkarate9 күн бұрын
Oops, I misspoke at 2:05, it should technically be Hu Gul Ssang Soo Ahneso Pahkuro Mahk Kee, if you are going by Hwang Kee's book from 1992 which was a reprint of his book from 1978. Side note, the book also calls it a "Two Fisted Block with Hu Gul Or Back Stance". Anyway, somewhere along the way it has gotten shortened to Hu Gul Ssang Soo Mahk Kee. So the block at 2:05 and the ones at 3:58 are the same. At some point I need to fix the Closed Captions too, LOL! Thanks for watching!
@mig21able9 күн бұрын
@ thank you! That is very helpful. Do you know the literal translation from the Korean?
@Rockholdkarate9 күн бұрын
The old romanization was Ssang Soo and you'll see that quite often. However The Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism (MCST) of South Korea updated their romanization system. So you'll see Ssangsu stemming from the Hangul 쌍수, which literally translates to duel wield. This is also used in Kummooyeh, the Sword martial art I train in. Ssangsu used in Kummooyeh is referring to two-handed sword.

I kno it a old video, but if you just leave the base with the 2 lockin mechanism on the ground it dosent move the locking piece then you just take the bag part and just put it down on to the base and turn the bag tight. Thought i let you know incase anyone looking to get one of these

I appreciate that, but when I did that before and unfortunately it would end up slipping out of position, so that's why I did that way in the video. Thanks for watching though!

Very interesting video sir. I hold a black belt in Chun Kuk Do which has a lot of roots in Tang Soo Do and it’s very interesting to see how the forms in both of our styles, even though many are basically the same, have small differences. I believe that it’s good to see different ways and perspectives on martial arts and I enjoy learning from them very much. Thank you sir
@RockholdkarateАй бұрын
Very cool! That's the Chuck Norris System, correct? Where do you train? I haven't met that many Chun Kuk Do practitioners, but they have said something similar. Across the Tang Soo Do spectrum I've noticed this. Usually the gap widens when looking at the Japanese and Okinawan versions, but it very fascinating to me. Thank you very much for watching!
@TonyEldridge-mq4wtАй бұрын
@ Yes sir, it’s the Chuck Norris System. Personally I haven’t had a whole lot of experience with the Japanese or Okinawan systems but my instructor has and he also studied Tang Soo Do. He even shows some of the differences sometimes and I think it’s really interesting how our styles can be similar and different at the same time. I believe it’s all about being open to learning new ways and perspectives on these things. I believe that it makes me a better practitioner and it’s really interesting and just plain fun. Do you also have a video on Bassai? It’s one of my favorite forms.
