Les Paul formed much of his musical inspirations in Waukesha , Wisconsin. I grew up there. , and remember walking downtown to Pauls Cafe' for a Butter Burger. And I remember Breezeway studios, music store, etc. What great place for serious midwest talent to get together. Always a Jam Session going on ,. or just some noodler, giving a good guitar a try. Ahhhh. memories.

Still a law in NYC to this day. Every corner has to have either a vibraphone player, or an accordion player.

Nine years ago when this video was posted, I knew nothing of this band. Did not know they existed. Since this post I have lucky enough to have heard the whole album. I found it on YT. The album may be the holy grail of psychedelic garage bands. The entire LP will soothe the minds of people who get into this particular style of music. Mystery Meat should be on the menu of anyone who has a passion for garage psych. This song is so soft, sensitive, and gentle, a peaceful easy feeing runs through my mind. My soul is filled with golden sunshine. The five students from Blackburn College in Illinois who recorded this beauty earned their degree in psychedelia. It's absolutely gorgeous. I don't exactly where they were from. Blackburn College is in Carlinville, IL

Riding high Leaving trails of smoke across the sky On a broom Glad that I am safe within my room - I know my girlfriend is a witch - Spells fill the air I think I hear footsteps on my stair Coming near Her thoughts are telling me that she's here I know my girlfriend is a witch - I know my girlfriend is a witch - What a fate A worshiper of magic for a date But tonight I become a warlock just for spite I know my girlfriend is a witch

I have a (very scratched) promo disc of this. My father edited a doctors' magazine at the time and was sent this record after he had claimed that no doctors had yet been part of the Pop scene. Sam Hutt (later known as Hank Wangford) was a doctor working, I think, with drug addicts, which may explain the convincing chorus of jittering hippies ;-) I loved it as a child and love it still. A masterpiece indeed!

Even if you didn't mention they were from CA, it sounds like West Coast sunshine pop. A bit reminiscent of Mama and Papas.

Sounds nostalgic, like a slow dancer from 1958, not something from psychedelic 1968.
