Billie this nightmare will pass. I am in my 80s and in my 50s I got a infection in my right eye. I became blind in that eye and adapted to seeing with one eye..Today I am really grateful my doctor advised me to take over the counter pain medication. I could have easily been prescribed oxy, by the time I went to the doctor my eye looked like it was out of the socket.. I was working in healthcare and when I called in sick to say I was going into emergency, the nurse suggested to wait till after the weekend, to go to a doctor's office. Listening was my mistake. Antibotics have a point of no return, where if you wait too long they are ineffective. I had been wearing contact lenes , where the contact was like a petri dish for the infection. It took 3 months for the eye to scar over to heal. Know this too will pass and you will be filled with gratitude .. as that is how it works. Know Billie you are SERVING.. as that is what VanLifer's do!!!

Hi Billie, I'm sorry you have had to go through this. You are both managing the situation really well. I have a Louise Hay book of positive affirmations, maybe you have already looked it up but for shingles it is 'I am relaxed and peaceful because I trust the process of life. All is well in my world,' easier said than done of course when there is so much going on, but it is in contrast to the other emotional feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop, and fear and tension and sensitivity. I think your body has responded to any feelings of stress you were experiencing, bringing it through to the physical. I know you probably know all this anyway! You will feel like a new woman when you come through this and I'm sure it will bring good new thoughts and ideas. Good luck, I don't normally comment, but I had to. I'm a bit local to you I think, up in Minch and have seen you parked there. Take care.

Drs and eye consultants have been great, sadly it’s just a long recovery and finding the correct meds that work without side affects ☯️

Omg I miss crumpets. Stupid medication I was on messed up my tummy so now I can't enjoy a lot of foods I used to. I feel for you guys. Bring in the better days 🙏🇦🇺

not sure what your condition is, i have chronic glaucoma uveitis, spent couple years on repeat visits to hospital, no eyedrops worked or pressure tablets, so resolved ill go blind or eye all drop out, i wear glasses, and find yellow tint helps day to day with the light... i do use eye patch when the pressures high... hope yours is less complex..

I too have experienced herpes zoster starting in spring this year. Attended a follow up hospital appointment yesterday. Not good news for me. The reason I mention this is to encourage Billie to use the meds particularly the eye drops and cream. I was too unwell and slept all the time not eating or drinking enough and IMPORTANTLY not using the meds as prescribed. Hence my damage is done. Best of wishes to both of you xx

Sorry to hear that, it’s not a nice virus is it? She’s not a fan of the meds but I’m on it every eye drop every anti viral etc… did you have problems keeping the good eye open as well? How long did that last ? We are are about to head into week 7, thanks for your comment

@ hi, I felt so unwell all I did was sleep in a darkened room. My wife woke me to apply meds as directed. Can’t help with how my other eye felt or coped. As for how long it’s all lasted, I suppose we’re talking months and months until I began to feel ‘better’. I’d lost a lot of weight and had no colour in my face. We live in southern Spain so I really did look ill. Six, or seven or more months on and my bad eye is all done in. It waters from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep. It aches with occasional sharp pain. I experience pain in my temple regularly and have nasty headaches on a regular basis. Paracetamol has become my best friend. In the medium sized pueblo that I live in I’m aware of around six others who have experienced the same thing. There might be more. I have no evidence but I suspect the Covid jabs might have some part to play in it all. Finally, although I am still driving, I probably shouldn’t be and will not be renewing my licence next year. I never thought I’d ever say that. So, please stay on top of the meds. I send my best wishes and much love to you both xxx
