guys, i dont know if this is a topic in the yugioh community at all (since i dont follow the game). but what happened with the design of the cards? all of these early cards were very pretty and new cards are very ugly.. is is just my nostalgia? dont think so

probably a mix of old artists/talent leaving or moving on to work other places and the game generally just running out of ideas. the old cards were so beautiful and simple, the new art is largely way too busy and the card names/text has gotten absurdly bloated along with the games rules. honestly anything after roughly 2006 is completely uninteresting to me. luckily you can just play goat format with all the old nostalgic cards

This video has reignited me and my friend's interest in the game. We're playing old school Yu-Gi-Oh against because of you, but without thorough guides one what came next (and a time machine) it's hard to find a good source that breaks down the preceding years. I hope you come back for a sequel or maybe even release what ou have if you ever started a sequel. Also, the music was nostalgic too.

One big thing that this video highlighted for me was how much the art style has changed. Yu Gi Oh cards used to have a distinctive art style with iconic card designs but nowadays it is leaning much more into the realm of generic anime-esque design. Any time they attempt to stray away from that anime aesthetic, the cards just look bad. They lost the recipe.

Nowadays the game starts and ends in the first turn and there are so many cards that negate monster effects that just makes yata a joke if you run it
