thanks, Deena! I couldn't cut the photo off, it's so gorgeous, so it was fun to enhance the story of it! (or at least the one I made up in my head!) haha... and the background. phew! it has my heart, too!

Gorgeous grunge 🧡 love how the ink on the ledger paper also reacted to the water, added another unexpected layer. Thank you for sharing Nicole

Love all the layers, but I love them so much, that I sometimes don’t know when to stop 😆! Beautiful spread, as always!!
@NicoleWatsonArtАй бұрын
Thanks so much! 😊 And, ugh! always... if you don't stop at that perfect spot, they can get overwhelming and all mushed together. however, when that happens, sometimes I grab the gesso to push a bunch of it back and add white space...and sometimes, I grab some ephemera to cover up spots! haha. Always the problem with layers. the struggle of not enough or too many.

oh, and yes - I didn't even see the cat until I saw the small square on instagram...and then others pointed it out on instagram too! but not looking at the bird part - bittersweet! my buddy Grayson loved looking at the birds (we said goodbye to him just over a year ago). missing him this week, so this was a sweet little moment you saw in my journal, thanks! :)

I love your style and color choices, thats why i clicked on the video. While i understand most of your techniques. Its a little fast. And it would be nice if you could say why your doing what you're doing. Example. Using white gesso to blend out your edges. When i do it the gesso stands out too much. How do you know when to stop, the resist w the circle stencil, how did you keep the outline on the right side of the page with it being so beautiful, perfectly subtle??

hello! thanks so much! I do provide voice overs for several of my 30 Minute Thursday series videos if you join my channel as a member - you can subscribe for a month and watch them all and then cancel! :) hehe.. I just started my memberships maybe 9 or so months ago, so not all of them are available with voices, but I think there are more than 20 there now. I also have A LOT of other videos with voices available without a membership. I'm also always happy to answer questions as best I can. First, just in case you didn't know, you can slow down the videos on KZbin, especially if there's a part you want to see slower. That might help a bit (just make sure you mute the music!). I use the gesso watered-down and full strength. I start off light and add more as needed. Combo of finger painting and a paint brush...just depends on how it's looking! My gesso is by liquitex, so it might also be the type of gesso I use. The right side, that just happened from wiping the paint over to the right with the dirty baby wipe very lightly and then some of it away before it dried 100% - it's one of the properties of the paint that I"m using, so it might not work as well with other kinds of acrylic paint. (I'm using Golden's SoFlat line of paint mostly, the Payne's gray is for sure) Hope that helps with those questions! :)

This is beautiful! Are you using diluted Matte Medium in that squeeze bottle? I use it straight but if you can thin it out I am SO doing that, lol!
@NicoleWatsonArt2 ай бұрын
thanks so much!! it's actually just matte medium! I buy it in a larger container and pour it into the bottle to save money :) I have accidentally watered it down when my paintbrush was too wet, and it doesn't work as well. :) (unfortunately!)

@@NicoleWatsonArt I've just watched both of them. I save videos as treats for working through my to do list. I'm single handedly clearing my dad's bungalow because my sister had an accident and her arm is broken in half between the shoulder and the elbow 😞 She is in a brace, but will most probably have to have surgery. Plus, I've pulled muscles in my arm with all the heavy lifting and my job in general, so I'm literally single handed 😂

A perfect final page (s) in the journal. Love the inclusion of the yearbook imagery. I wish this was something the UK did, but it never caught on & now with all the data protection laws & safeguarding, it would be an absolute no no. 😊
