If you listen, you can hear David doing his own version of Jimmy Stewart in his TV characters. Stewart's style and energy were unique. Rangy, bold, exaggerated, easy to hear in the balcony.

Knives, guns, bombs and ...monsters, actually, is exactly what my little boy was drawing in the 2010s - really not that much different from 1940s/50s USA, but maybe a reflection of 'our world' : ) As I'm bingewatching Lynch interviews, I am pleased to hear him a new story from his early life, and so many artlife details I had not heard, before. Danke Filmfetival Koeln!

Richard Farnsworth was such an EXCELLENT casting choice for "The Straight Story" (1999). It's a WONDERFUL Lynch movie to introduce those who are uninitiated to the Lynch Realm and/or to those who have heard "David Lynch is really WEIRD". Unlike some of David's films, "The Straight Story" is a MUST SEE for FAMILIES and EVERYONE who loves their family ..and for those who wish to be LOVED. Perhaps the ONLY Lynch film that'll bring a tear to your eye. Keep a tissue handy.

I MUST agree with David Lynch regarding B&W. There are certain stories that are BEST spoken in B&W.. BECAUSE, in B&W the STORY, and not the COLORS, takes Center Stage. Light and Dark. '1's and ZEROS. "Yes" OR "No". There are ONLY TWO OPTIONS..taken to INFINITY (see "Calculus").

❤ Macht weiter so 👍🏻

I absolutely love Gaspar Noe and his films, but I still haven't watched Vortex yet. I really should suck it up and watch it soon, I imagine it's not gonna be any easier to view it the longer I wait. Also, really glad to see an interview with him with decent production quality. I don't speak French & it seems alot of his English interviews available are done on the spot with less than great audio.

Over and out

I actually was thinking will he mention Amour, I think it coming out made him kinda have to think how to do scrap what he had tought to do. To not look or feel similar but work. There ofc will be them connected together even if letting a bit time go on before making Vortex. Just for the fact as he said that there is not many movies about the subject. Also Amour being so fantastic that it propably made kinda having to in a weird way to distant from it and keep it it in mind to find another path. It isn't about old age but a real story of someone who got an early on-set dementia in middle-age. Still Alice, it's a wonderfull movie too that goes to her head and confusion. It going worse and nothing to do about it. As someone whose been few years in a really intense period of an mental illness and it ruining my twenties really. The first year of it I didn't want to know what I had because I even feared brain-damage because the symptoms were so severe. I was scared that I will do something to me if I hear that it stays. Turned out some have had it a week, month(s), year(s), as in my case during years it not 100% going away but Massively downsized and some have it say 20 years or the whole life. I just happened to have every symptom ridiculously high, soooo bad luck.

Xavier is one of my favorite film directors ever. I felt in love with him since the J'ai Tue Ma Mere. It was kinda way of telling stories that I always was searching for. And his films touch me every time. He influenced my taste a lot. It's sad that he's dissapointed about filmmaking right now. But I wish that someday we can see his new work. And I wish someday i can meet him personally.

I was just thinking today about Xavier and wanting to contact him. We used to correspond on twitter about his films, then he stopped using social media. When a couple years later he announced his retirement, I was heartbroken. About a month ago I looked up a French photographer friend of his who used to joke back and forth with me and Xavier on twitter. I wanted to find out how Xavier is doing. He didn't reply. Today I googled about Xavier to see if there is any news and was delighted to see that just 3 days ago hebannounced he is coming back to filmmaking, with a Gothic horror story! So looking forward to his new work. I loved so many of his magical films, especially Tom at the Farm (watched it 4 times!), I Killed My Mother, and Mommy - which he and I had several twitter convos about, because I was dealing with a similar situation as that mom. His films reach me like very few others. So glad that there will now be more. Bet you are too. n
