His performance of “Soul Dressing” at the same show has a nice keyboard solo - I forget the name of the keyboardist.

I don’t “get” the relic appeal either. I can understand maybe getting a Gil iota r that is a special issue and is configured to the specs of some famous guitar but that has to do with actual sound and performance. 👍🏼

At around 4:28 he’s actually playing beyond the fretboard - he’s playing directly over the pickups with his fret hand.

7:14 the right hand technique he uses here is called "Sarod technique", adapted from Indian Sarod players. Taught to him by Pebber Brown (RIP). It's a similar motion to stirring a cup of coffee, and enables you to play very fast if you learn how to do it properly

That middle part was damaged when I got mine .. I returned it back to nomad for an exchange.. should get it tomorrow.. I have the Natural titanium with a black storm and black titanium hardware.. i think it’s give the ultra a stealthy sleek look .. but this band is by far their most comfortable band.. I like better than their sport band .. and I have about 8 sport bands from nomad ..

Jeff also uses his hand on bridge to make different sounds. He uses all parts of that guitar. Have you heard him play Nessun Dorma live at Crossroads guitar festival? It's the pinnacle to me.

Be patient you have to develop the strength you do that. It’s not an overnight thing. But keep at it. I made a video about it a few years ago check it out below: EASIEST WAY TO PLAY BARRE CHORDS kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5PQm4Wfq66YsNU

I thought he played 11s or 12s on his strat, but I heard recently that he used 8s or 7s. Crazy! Tuning down a half-step that must prevent the breakage. Then again, maybe his strings didn't break for another reason. Think about it - if you were a guitar string on Jimi Hendrix's guitar, would you dare break while he was playing you?

Jimi used 10-38 gauge strings. GHS sells a version of his strings and I’m sure other companies do as well.

You do know that he would restring a right-handed guitar so that he could play it Left-handed, it isn't like he took a right-handed guitar and just played it upside down. He just liked and preferred playing the Fender Strat body that way, plus I guess Left-handed Strats weren't too common or not too much available, especially in pawn shops and music stores, since there are/were few Left-handed guitar players compared to right-handed guitarist.

It's even more mind-blowing that the fast tapping part was learned from a track where multiple guitar parts were overlaid. Unaware of this, he taught himself to play it.
