Used a SCC single dome swag on a recent winter trip. Got drenched with rain. Rain remained on the outside. Very pleased with it. Keeps mozzies out too.

I'd love one, but it is extremely poor value for money. If it were half the price I would think about one. Like the old Land Rover Defender, it is now a deeply compromised vehicle only bought by enthusiasts.

Loving the Land Cruiser so much even 13 years after this video was made. Something I find amusing, when Rob said ‘ the discovery has a better motor ‘ after multiple snapped cranks and seized engines in the TDV6s in the discos….it really ISN’T a better motor. But obviously weren’t to know that back then. :)

I had a decent sized star in my windscreen, about 1.5cm x 1.5cm and I was skeptical about this product but didn't have time to get to a Pro before the cracks might start expanding, so I reluctantly tried the UFIXIT kit. I did everything by the instructions and was more than happy with the result! In the right light I can see the resin and where it has filled the chip and the cracks, and it took a while to remove the excess resin, but wow at the result. I am now going to have a go at some small bullseyes on my other cars. I highly recommend this product, especially if a Pro repair is beyond your budget.

Can you make any recommendations when buying a used Pajero for a trip like this? Looking at a $15k budget and hopefully a 4th gen diesel.
@MyRVTV3 жыл бұрын
For those sort of dollars you will probably get a 2008 Exceed. If you haven't already done so check Redbook for comparative prices. Personally I would get an exceed, it has more comfort features but most importantly the leather seats which are just so easy to keep clean and dont need to bother about seat covers, which I find really uncomfortable. Check the transmissions as they were a weak spot for the Pajero. Also with a diesel regular service and oil changes are so important Decent All Terrain tyres and an aftermarket suspension kit if it doesnt already have one. Good luck and enjoy the trip
@lancer19933 жыл бұрын
@@MyRVTV Thanks for the quick reply, right now the trip is planned for sometime in winter 2022, so we have plenty of time to find something and make sure its in good order. Also thinking of putting a snorkel on it to reduce the dust intake and building some draws for the back. Was already considering some Bridgestone rubber and a 2nd spare. Other work will depend on what condition its in and what many we have left.
@MyRVTV3 жыл бұрын
@@lancer1993 I used 25 mm aluminium tube from capral to make a frame for my fridge slide and a two tiered storage separation in the back and then used plastic tubs to store everything. They were easy to use and more practical I thought. Remember the Pajero has the well in the boot where the seats fold into, I removed them and slid all the heavy recovery gear into there, never had to use it on any of our trips so far. Snorkel is a good idea, when I did my around Australia trip in 2003 they didnt exist for the Paj so never bothered with it. but take spare air filters obviously
@lancer19933 жыл бұрын
@@MyRVTV Never considered a spare air filter, good idea if it gets really dusty, even with a snorkel. I'll probably buy the fridge slider, BCF has some good prices, probably use MDF or ply to make the drawers, I've mode loads of around to home so this shouldn't be much different. Not considering taking the seats out but that will depend on which Pajero we end up getting and the design of the drawers. I know there is a lot to consider but its always better to be over prepared than stuck because you forgot something. I tend to over pack when it comes to tools and stuff.

I have a similar concept - fold out tent on a 6X4 modified trailer. I solved the problem of access to the front of the trailer by building 3 full length drawers on low friction plastic runners. So I have full access to everything in the trailer without having to lift the tent up. Simple is best.

Used the Maxtrax for the first time to get out of a bog offroad last weekend. Without them I was going nowhere, bogged down to the axles, miles from anywhere. They got me out of there first attempt, really fantastic product. Cost me $250 AUD at 4WD supacentre, easily paid for themselves already.
