Harriet Powers! I knew of the importance of her work but I wasn’t personally touched by the work. Now I see it quite differently. What a privilege to hear these women. I must get out my Georgia issue as I don’t think I really read the article. Thank you Quiltfolk!

Thank you for a vital piece of history for African American quilters. I can relate, for I started quilting remembering my grandmother's quilts that were on her beds in NC.

This was amazing -- what a remarkable group of experts and women. It's my dream to see at least one of the Harriett Powers quilts in-person someday. The energy it gives through pictures is palpable. Thank you for organizing and publishing this video!

They did do such an awesome amazing job, I had to board a plane and follow them, then I had the marvelous privilege to meet you, Cissy, your sister, Pat, Karen, and all those drawn to your islands to simply sit in the Spirit of Aloha and stitch. Even in dark times and cold Alaskan winters, it lies within and I can draw on it. I am also headed to the UK to see the Museum, and have more quilting adventures. Aloha my friend!

This made me tear up a little bit, and it really was a special workshop. I'm glad to hear that there is a permanent exhibit in England, so many more people can see the beauty of Hawaii quilting.

When I first saw this retreat advertised I assumed it was for people who write professionally. Hearing Mary talk about writing in her diary I realized I am a writer!?! I’m always writing about my current quilt or one I want to make or various other thoughts on quilting. I won’t be able to attend this event but I will continue writing in my journals about my quilt making journey only now with a bit more intention.
