Hi, Bob! What a great project! I love your videos...your calm voice it's such a stress-reliever at the end of the day. :) My only issue is your background music today...five minutes in and that "jazzy jinglebells" theme was driving me bonkers! I love the finishing music, though...perfect for the giving moment!

I think so. I betting he'll grow up to be orange. Will have to keep an eye on him. The yellow one we call Whitey and he is blind. Doesn't stop him from being ornery. 😀

Nice video on how your system works. Question: Do you have a room or other parts of your home on the other side of the wall where your fireplace is or is the chimney on an exterior wall. If there is living space on the other side, are there any concerns about over heating or fire. We're building a new log home and the fireplace will be on an interior wall with living space behind it. Thoughts?
@Rgreenacres21 күн бұрын
Thank You! The fireplace is in center of the house There are rooms all around the fireplace. The Quadrafire Insert is just that. A closed system. The parts around the Chimney are always cold no matter how hot we get it. I'm not sure how an open fireplace would work. We barely used it when it was just a regular fireplace. I do remember the wall behind getting warm which was welcomed. With the insert, the walls are cold. Most the heat was directed out the front of the unit and that's what we were looking for. Hope this answered your questions.
@chestypuller459121 күн бұрын
Yes sir! thank you. I'm sure with new construction and building codes what will be built will be just fine and have all of the necessary specifications in order. Each fireplace in the homes we've owned was on an outside wall. This will be new. Have a wonderful holiday and stay cozy!

Fine video, fun to see a site from my old memory. Anecdote: In the 1950's and early 60's, we were kids in that part of Illinois, we would bicycle to Starved Rock a lot. Fun thing: at @2:00 one can see where the dam goes over the river to meet that big rock formation ( the top of it was known as Lover's Leap). We kids used to walk along a narrow rock shelf on the edge of the rock formation, and could get within 20 feet of the dam's top. The shelf was was about 40 feet above the river. And with water below us, rushing past, out of the dam's gate. There was a small piece of chain-link fence at the beginning of the shelf, warning us to not pass, ha! that made it a challenge. Also further downriver, we would swim in the river. When a barge passed, even slowly, it would make large waves (@ 2 feet high), which was fun for us. Oh, one more thing, when the river was running fast over the dam, huge clouds of foam, some as big as houses, from detergents washed into the water upstream, would waft over to the Starved Rock picnic area.
@Rgreenacres25 күн бұрын
That's a great story! I love going down along the river to do lots of exploring. We grew up near Meredosia Illinois and that's where I got my river blood from. I had a small John Boat from my Dad after he passed and would take it out on the river solo just to enjoy nature. And of course do a little fishing! Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words.

@RgreenacresАй бұрын
She's a very good girl! The greenhouse pretty much stays as cold as it is outside unless it's a sunny day. On a sunny day. It can be 32 outside and 72 in the greenhouse. As soon as it gets cloudy, it gets cold.

In my area of NW Georgia they are clear cutting forest to build houses apartments and townhouses they call cottages. I feel that we've forgotten where our oxygen comes from. Taking down a tree is, or should be, a difficult decision. I can tell you felt bad but the tree was sick. You did the right thing and maybe plant another in its place. 😊

Though necessary, it's sad that it had to. I love trees in all stages but particularly when they have no leaves to hide their true shape. Your property is beautiful.
