Not just noise pollution, but horrible air and water quality also plague Mexico City. A very unhealthy place to live. It is ranked the 14th most polluted city in the world and the worst in Latin America.

Don’t move! Stop this gentrification nonsense. Mexican people cannot compete with USD
@MacraeXL3 күн бұрын
Fair enough, mexican people are struggling to survive, and it's sad... but the problem at its core is not gentrification. It's printing of money by governments. People all over the world are struggling to make ends meet, and it's not because of gentrification

No, it's different here than the US. If you're referring to the cops, they put on their sirens not when something is happening just to let you know they are there. It can be constant all day.... also people playing music in the streets constantly and pretty much anywhere.
@pamelawing57474 күн бұрын
EVERY; culture is different from the one you are living in so IF you want to move, you can watch a lot of channels on here that are created by Americans abroad ALL over the world. Take the time and travel to where you think you want to consider. IF you can, stay for a month OR even the 90 days until your visa runs out. BE prepared to learn the language of the country. IF you don't want to do that, don't move. There are various expenses involved to get residency in the country of your choice. Just be thorough because making a mistake can be REALLY expensive. I know a lot of people are talking about moving, have your eyes open. It CAN be done. There is a lovely lady in her 70's, posting on here, moved to France and lives in Fontainebleau, not far from Paris. Another young couple is in Italy, turning an abandoned stone barn on a mountain hillside, into their home. LOTS of information from them. A young man who has lived in Paris for several years, and just this year got his French citizenship. So, if you just think you want to run for the sake of running, you would do well to rethink it. If you are open to different cultures, interested in learning and a bit of adventure, look into it. IF I was younger and really a bit more financially secure I would have been in Europe quite a few years ago. .

Expats need to realize that just about any country outside of the US will have elevated noise levels. I live in Ecuador and it's a similar noise level. Language is the issue that sends many expats back home. Bureaucracy in developing countries is much worse than in the US. Know also that locals will try to charge you more for housing, food, you name it. This happens in so many countries where expats gather.
@MacraeXL5 күн бұрын
@QuinnPrice not all countries outside of the U.S. but there are many, yes. Language is probably the biggest one for me because I've never learned another language, but I want to change that about me... In mexico city I don't have the problem of the locals charging me more unless it's for something in the market that doesn't already have a price. But it's a big city here and I think it would make a difference in smaller cities or towns for sure

I am from Wyoming. I have spent a lot of time in Mexico city. I have driven in and out of the city many times and you are correct about the traffic, I avoid it. However ,I have no problem navigating the public transportation system. I usually walk and take the metro. It is cheap, reliable and safe. The stations have symbols to make it easier for foreigners. The metro arrives at the airport terminal so it makes flying in and out easy. My friends tell me that i know the metro system better than many locals.
@MacraeXL5 күн бұрын
Great point! I haven't personally taken the metro yet and should try it out. It's great to know that you have had such a positive experience, if a city has a metro, its always a great way to get around.

I’d like to add two more: if you use public transportation when it’s crowded, groping is very common especially for women, but it’s common for men. Number two: it’s not a problem yet, but in the near future Mexico City will run out of water. There are neighborhoods that experience regular water outages. In 2018 if happened to the whole city for three days.

You start with noise? You'd think you'd have started with the drug cartel kidnappings and murders! Noise! Lol!
@13708025 күн бұрын
Most people in Mexico don’t experience that, which is exactly what he tried to say when he mentioned safety. I lived in Mexico for 7 years. Various forms of theft are really common, and so is sexual harassment, but you won’t get kidnapped. Cartels have nothing to gain by kidnapping you. Maybe you read a news article about someone who was kidnapped because nobody will report on normal, mundane, everyday life in Mexico. It wouldn’t get attention.
@MacraeXL5 күн бұрын
You should really visit México if you have those ideas about it, and I'm not just talking about the beach areas. I haven't seen or experienced any of those things. It's not common in most places. But just come visit and you'll fall in love with Mexico!

Noise is the largest change you will have to get used to, and it impacts your life daily. Constantly. Dogs barking like you live at the animal shelter, neighbors blaring their music to the entire neighborhood, very loud fiestas on the weekend until late in the night, church bells multiple times a day, trucks and buses going by, construction next door, traffic honking. Everything is noisy in Mexico. It was good the video started with noise as that literally has the most impact on your daily life. I have yet to be kidnapped nor murdered, not even once, let alone daily. As the video stated, like anywhere else in the world, don't set out to crime, and you'll be safe.
