@@pugsterjosh7925I have timed the M6 Toll in a car against the M6. Did it half a dozen times. The average time saved was eight minutes. The Toll booths are also far from easy when riding a motorcycle.

I believe these work on short-range radio, activated by a _wake-up_ signal that's transmitted around the toll plaza. 📶 If the tags were operated by RFID they'd be a lot thinner (They'd resemble a contactless card, and have no internal battery) but the strength of the induction field necessary to drive a tag passing at speed from readers on overhead gantries would cause significant issues for mobile phones/sat-navs, vehicle electronics, and certain kinds of medical device. ⚕ That said: The abnormally specific positioning requirements for the tags (Which puts them in identical positions in both cars and HGVs) also suggests some form of optical or line-of-sight system (IR or UV) might be in use. 😇

(In the event this is still relevant) Log-on to your M6 Toll account and send a customer service request for a new holder. They'll most likely deal with you directly through there, and will have your address on file which is associated to your tag and online account. You _might_ also be able to work around the issue using self-adhesive pads, but this wouldn't be guaranteed. If trying this you'd need to place the tag in the same place you would if using a holder, and *crucially* - Given the tags might use line-of-sight communication - _Make sure that the pads and other objects are _*_not_*_ covering any part of the tag which isn't ordinarily covered by the holder._ If you try the above, approach the toll booth by means of the tag lane but with caution, and prepare to stop short of the barrier just in case your tag isn't read properly. (If so: Pay at the machine, keep your receipt) If the tag beeps and you get a green light as normal, then all's good. 👍
