Wise choice to DIY. Easier to control the quality even if it means a longer timeframe. The results look great. I imagine you went this route due to the crazy cost of buying an unfinished shell 6 years ago. Was this a cash purchase? How's the value holding up in that city?

Wonderful design but you only gained a foot more in diameter. I suppose this design can be applied to make the table much larger in dia.

this Qing dynasty houses design is timeless isnt it? its the same with old european architecture, timeless and still appreciate by ppl now and future. if i had money, i would buy the house in china, dismantle it, and build it here in my country. amazing.

Flip, we live in Zhuhai, Guangdong, we border Macau. I never knew Maserati made a super car. This car was unbelievable, never seen one before. We met the owner of the shop, had a nice talk with him, sure we can get a look at it. Sir, I am a car nut, love beautiful cars. One reason I live in Zhuhai, super high end cars everywhere. Personally wife and have two cars, a city car Honda Fit, road car Lexus SUV. I have a retired friend from Canada donates his time at the Zhuhai race track. Second largest track in China. Access to the pits.

Simplification is fantastic, you ve got rid of separate mechanism for center star in very elegant way. But I would suggest to put that lifting ramp in parallel with linear rails (like original fletcher table has), so you can easily do even more complicated skirt (which makes not round table round, for round2round table). This mechanism probably prevents it, beacuse skirt wouldnt be able to go too much down, so its upper static part which does not rotate would be probably very thin. But for this kind of table it is brilliant.

Thank you so much for your comment and suggestions. I must say I did look at and work on parallel ramps like the original fletcher capstan tables. But for my design I found that in such a short distance of travel the ramps to be to dramatically steep. Like you said I couldn't get the expanding and the skirt to work together any other way. You are one of the very few that understand what I have done, taking out the inherent problem of rising the star two levels in such a confined area. This star issue is where I was having most of my troubles. It took about a year, obviously on and off, it's just a hobby. Then slap my forehead, it just hit me. Few weeks later had a finished table. I built this table on a dare from a fellow engineer, as for my hobbies I view as my number 2 best build. My number 1 best build is my CNC router design and build. Check it out on my channel.

Hi Nick, I live in China, all parts I bought on Taobao in China. All links would be in Chinese, the reduction motor label is in Chinese. I can send you the links to where I purchased everything, but is all in Chinese. My wife is Chinese I tell her what I need then she orders it. As for the rollers you asked the bearings are standard, the arms I 3D printed myself.

Hey Flip you found my channel, I have never seen this before either. There is a few rice farms in the States but none where I am from. Thought it was pretty cool.
