I have been searching for a video of Dr. Eklund conducting this. I have listened to so many performances and no one even comes close to how clean his beginning is. I appreciate how his choir doesn't get hung up on the second syllable of "Ave"

Mil vezes malditos os assassinos que proporcionaram esse espetáculo aterrador. Que seus autores façam morada no inferno até que ele esfrie. Há certos atos que são imperdoáveis. Este foi um deles.

Dr. Eklund is an amazing man. He is a true Renaissance man. I wish him continued and growing success!

I'm pretty sure the conductor wants the audience members to focus on the singers, the message, the faces, the great collaboration between text and notes, not on a dancing director. (that's just my opinion) I've heard him say that conductors should never upstage the music or those that are actually making the sound.

I REALLY liked the ending IMO. Anytime I hear other choirs perform this, I always anticipate them to finish it like this, but im left disappointed. Non the less, fabulous performance!

The freshness and enthusiasm, apart from the extreme musicality of the performance, is really uplifting. I noted also the performance without scores and the alternating of the men and women which means that every singer must know their part very well. I love as well the individual relationship of each singer with the conductor , and the mood portrayed by each singer as the piece progresses.

@pepesmith09912 жыл бұрын
what key was this on?
@choirgroupie12 жыл бұрын
Good question. I'm sure our director would say that if you are watching him, then he is doing a disservice to the composer. He'd want you focused on the message, the performers, and the composers' intent, not on a dancing conductor. He says all the time that his job is to be invisible. Just quoting the main man here.

Kudos to Mr. von Kampen for his arrangement, excellent interpretation and impeccable performance by the choir... but that Director--How could he just stand there so motionless?! LOL Not a critique, just an observation. :-)

I was ready to give a standing ovation, BUT then you changed the ending! Otherwise, this was immaculate! Balance, blend, supported sound -- especially in the top notes. And not to forget the awesome intonation and dynamic contrast. Job well done!
