Really awesome tutorial! Thanks a lot. Just a question: does the motion record work for the filter parameters and will it be saved to the machine?

Wait... do I understand this correctly? You've basically recreated the tracks from that set, like, made (I guess) a kit for each one, with the matching instruments, then the patterns, the variants and all that? If so, that's pretty much insane (but the good kind of insane hehe). Very impressive, I'll check it out. I'm not as familiar with her sound as you obviously are... But i remember the Awakenings Festival in A'dam, iirc in 2018. I just walked by that huge "tent" stage which emitted massive waves of hard, powerful, energetic techno. While my brain was still processing, my body already stopped, turned around and joined the party. And everybody was raving like there was no tomorrow, and in front of all those happy folks, there was this handsome woman, responsible for those very sound waves which kept the folks locked in the tent, raving on and on and on... She was in tune with the crowd and it was massive. One of my rather memorable techno moments, for sure.

Ok, update. First off, I installed it (sorry for the rather small donation) and played around with it for the past hour. Second, holy cow. Going through the patterns, I can only imagine how much time this has taken to create. Big respect man! I haven't seen anything like that... it's very straightforward, no excess configurations, modulations etc, only what you need to perform a certain task. I think this is what makes your work so useful beyond simply performing the underlying set: it allows me to get a very good idea on how to create own compositions, without getting lost in unnecessary details, how to structure tracks (after all, it's already used in tracks which have proven to work). And also, I always wondered how to create a proper 303 sound without having to rely on actual 303 samples: I can simply use the onboard OSC Saw samples and put a filter cutoff on the CTRL. Which I have never tried, but now, I saw how it's done. Just out of curiosity: how long did it take you to build all that? Do you have any professional music background? So, yeah... thanks & keep up the good work!

Well, it's not professional, it's just a hobby. This project took about 2 weeks. TR-8S only contains carefully selected sounds, so I think I was able to do this without throwing anything away halfway through. With other tools, there were so many options that I might have gotten lost and given up. TR-8S is a truly wonderful instrument.
@allyouracid
@allyouracid 5 ай бұрын
I tried it, copied it on my TR-8S and was blown away. I compared a few tracks to the original, very impressive how close you got. Solid work! I think I should also try recreating tracks I like, I can imagine it's very helpful for own improvement in listening, recognizing elements in a track, arrangement, performance, ...

How did you set up only patterns till 6 and back to 1?
@colony2179
@colony2179 10 ай бұрын
that was track lengths. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGWXc36Xnqh7bsksi=y2WuMzmU2lH2nkN1&t=78 Step1: Set Drum track lengths 16/16 Step2: Set Melody track length 6/16 Step3: On the melody track, I randomly tweak Tune knob while holding down each step button. Result: The pattern has an odd time signature and does not belong to any tonality.
