I have a theory that I’m surprised nobody has caught onto yet. This game is about Max shifting between two different timelines. Safi is dead in one and alive in the other. WHAT IF Chloe is also alive in one and dead in another. Like, the timeline where Safi is dead, Chloe is alive and Arcadia Bay is destroyed. The timeline where Safi is alive, Chloe is dead.

What do you mean is she alive? If you chose to save her then ofcourse she is alive 😂

Music/voice balance is a bit off in the middle of the video. I'd recommend reaising your voice by like 25% or picking different music. I wouldn't say they're trying to mislead people. They're just putting so great an effort into not spoiling Life is Strange 1 for anyone hearing about Double Exposure that they're forcing themselves to present things they way they've been doing.

Massive respect for any theory videos that will hold me over until the new game. You could probably see this has not having NEW powers, honestly, but rather her powers have ALWAYS been some form of NOT having time powers, but rather, having the power to place herself in a certain place AND time, allowing her to affect her current reality but eventually expanded to somehow extend to stepping into other branches of spacetime of reality. In the first game, we see her able to 'rewind' time while being able to end up somewhere else- Effectively kind of just disappearing/reappearing somewhere else to other people. But we see this multiple reality hopping in the first game when she affects herself enough to be in an alternate timeline where Chloe is disabled. In the first game we can see her genuinely struggle through nightmares that 'seem real' because she keeps rubberbanding forwards into being at the lighthouse while the storm destroys Arcadia that ends up being a MASSIVE convergence point for her where her entire life is changed- The genuine first signs we see of her being able to see/experience alternate timelines. We see her struggle and be in pain whenever she exerts herself, or when especially when we see her try extremely hard to effect her place in time to appear behind Kate to save her. To support this, sometimes in the first game you even see a silhouette of what the 'past' Max was doing at the time- But then she just appears somewhere else nearby or doing something else. She steps into points in time that she experienced, while being able to freely have her physical location be somewhat different. If it were 'true' time travel then she'd frankly just be able to go back 50-100 years or whatever past her own experiences- But rather, shes able to slip into a previous, and now, alternate version of herself. In a way, her power was always affecting HER OWN place in space-time rather than manipulating it in and of itself- This is demonstrated by her ability to be able to retain her own knowledge and recollections of affecting and any loops beforehand, and whenever she affected things enough to completely fall into another reality altogether in the first game. But we see her maturation and results of never using them again from the trauma of Blackwell results in being able to see the veil between multiple timelines, and now she can more directly observe and affect her own place in spacetime to the point of hopping parallel timelines affected by the butterfly effect. TLDR; "Main" Max has the spacetime ability to insert herself into any PAST version of herself- But in this game we see her power evolve into seeing the veil between timelines that are playing side by side clearly in an almost supernatural way- And then insert herself into that timeline of Max. Before, she could really only affect her physical place in time if she had knowledge of it, was around that specific location at the time, or if she knew it had happened- AKA she uses a photo to go back eventually into 'popular' Max with disabled Chloe eventually after she goes back far enough to try to prevent Chloe's dad from dying, as kids.

That's certainly possible, but my bet is that original Max already used Photo Focus after the asteroid strike caused great devasation to the planet in hopes she could somehow avoid it happening. She desperately looked for the oldest photo she had on her, and it was the one we see her take in the gameplay the devs showed off (where he seems to go unconscious for a moment). Since her powers were weak from not using them, her Photo Focus fails to completely replace the old world with a new one. Instead, the Max we control can now see both the "original" world and the "new" world, one of which has Safi alive and one does not. So, Max didn't so much gain a new power as she had a glitchy Photo Focus whose consequences the Max we control now experiences. Eventually, when we get back to original Max's present time, original Max will "take over" the consciousness of Max in one of the two realities, like how Max returns from a Photo Focus in LiS1. But maybe I'm going too into crazy territory. 🤷‍♂️ Your theory could work too.

i’m really disappointed about the whole ultimate edition thing,with getting the first 2 chapters early because i’m definitely not gonna be able to avoid the spoilers with how much i’ve interacted with the lis fandom and it sucks 😭, hopefully nothing too groundbreaking happens during those chapters :,)

Did you notice the building behind Max at 0:21 in the trailer? The size and appearance corresponds to one part of the school or it looks like some kind of church. I think someone shot from that building, that's the reason why no weapon was found around - someone must have shot from a distance. And Safi was sitting right in front of that building.

The owl in LIS1 was heavily associated with Jefferson. It showed up whenever his 'true self' was revealed: both when Max and Chloe were about to discover the Dark Room, and also when Chloe was about to get shot and Max drugged & kidnapped. Perhaps it could just be a bad omen, but LIS1 was pretty big on spirit animals. The doe/deer is clearly Max's (innocence is one thing that the deer represents, and we all know Jeffershit's spiel on Max's innocence. Compassion, intellect, caring, and subtlety are other things it represents--not really words that describe Rachel). Rachel was most likely using Max's *spirit* animal to try and communicate with her--it's less likely that Rachel's spirit animal was the doe, but she was using Max's spirit animal to communicate with her. The owl is associated with wisdom, mystery, deception, stealth, and secrecy. Sounds like quite a dead ringer for Jefferson, to me... So why is the owl showing up so much here?

I’m sure the reason Chloe isn’t around is because the first game ended with you choosing to either save Chloe or Arcadia and the game will ask what you chose and that will decide whether Chloe is dead or alive somewhere else. They don’t want one of those choices to be more canon than the other.

I feel like if they give max her fringe back it would look a lot like her. The hair she has now is very similar to Stephanie's middle part. I understand looks will change as you age but it makes max really recognizable.

Max's face is bizarre in the sense that there's scenes where you totally recognize it's her (all the shots of her close inside house) and sometimes where she doesn't.

Honestly, I think the reason why they didn't reference Chloe in the trailer is because, based on the first game, you can't really make Chloe a main character in this one ... which is going to bother a lot of people. But think about it, based on how you played the first game, you either sacrifice Chloe or you sacrifice or Acadia Bay. So they had to make a game that did not revolve around either of those. Probably reference Chloe in the game somewhere, but it depends on how you played the original. I mean they did that with the second game and they only brought in Max and Chloe briefly as like a side thought. At the beginning of life is strange 2 they ask you, did you save Chloe or did you save Arcadia Bay, which affects how the game plays out. What I'm curious about is how are they going to handle a whole generation of people who never played the first game… Or are they just going to assume that nobody's going to jump in the middle?... the original game came out like nine years ago, so if you were nine years old, then you'd be like 18 now.

If Chloe is part of the game, they won’t reveal her until very end because it takes away from the new story and new friendship with Safi they’ve created. I just mean everybody would be focused on Chloe, not Safi

The owl in the first game appears when Max finds the Dark Room in the barn, so it might symbolizes death, a change of state or even it could be Mr. Jefferson’s spirit animal.

Finally someone else noticed the owl. I have a few theories and considerations I've formed so far: At 1:33 in the bottom right hand corner we can see a picture of a dog and underneath it says "Chloe", and down to the right there's a photo of a town in Mexico (LiS2?) that seems to be called Merida. The dog in the picture that says Chloe kinda looks like Pompidou but I strongly doubt it's her, so maybe Max has a dog that she named after Chloe? And in the photo of the building at the bottom, right next to Max's body, we can see the same building from the beginning of the trailer: could it be Pan Estates? Back in LiS1 at some point there was a plan of Pan Estates that said "Lobby Level", and the shapes seem to match, so in this game Pan Estates could be finished? But that wouldn't make sense because the school in the game is not Blackwell (it appears to be called Caledon or Galedon University, as we can see at 0:35). And up above there's a photo of a red barn, like the barn from the first game that hid the Dark Room. Also, in the trailer's ending (which is also the the thumbnail) Max is wearing a bunch of rings, which probably indicate a bond to someone, and she's wearing a bird-shaped pin, which is not really Chloe's bluejay as would be obvious, but it looks like an owl. The owl in the beginning of the trailer, so I think the owl could be someone's spirit animal: the trailer makes it seem like it's Max's, but we know from the first game that her spirit animal is the doe, so whose is it? Safi's? Don't know, we've never seen owls in Life is Strange except for the barn owl in the... well, barn, from the first game. Plus at minute 1:31 in the bottom left hand corner there appear to be some bottles? THOSE bottles? They could be something else since they're out of focus and there's a picture of some bowling pins on the right, but I've never seen brown pins?

Also my theory is Rachel is gonna be in the alternate timeline along with Chloe

MAJOR SPOILERS ON WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY SO PLEASE DON'T READ IT IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY SPOILERS. AS FOR THE PEOPLE WHO READ THE COMICS AND PLAYED THE FIRST LIFE IS STRANGE GAME, YOU'RE GOOD TO READ THIS. I will not dive into the full story of the comics but just the general part of Max having the ability to go into different realities. I've read this one a long time ago and never revisited it so if I have said something wrong, pls feel free to correct it. So my theory goes that both the endings of Life is Strange is canon whatever you choose, because if you decided to sacrifice the Arcadia Bay, the story will continue in the comics as of early on she discovers that she has the ability to go into different timelines but she still doesn't have control over it yet, that is later in the comics with the help of Rachel, Chloe, and a guy (a new character). In this trailer it is completely shown that the old aged Max (I think she's around 28-29 in the trailer), she just discovered that she has the ability to shift into another timeline so meaning that this is the Max that sacrificed Chloe, it is also hinted because she vowed never to use her powers again because of what it caused in Arcadia Bay and made the big decision to sacrifice Chloe. That's very much it for my theory that this is the Max that sacrificed her Chloe.
