For the record, the programmer of GWizard passed away but there is possibly someone that may take over, the problem from what I understand though, is that Bob was the sole programmer and didn't leave the source code. If that doesn't happen, HSMWorks is different but similar, both are very good. One thing that is better about HSMWorks is that there is an included phone app.

Hi Eric and Monica, there are aspects of using bobcad that I have never seen demonstrated that have been the most enabling. 1) Having open 2 or more files open to be able to copy for saving intermediate geometry creations because when boolean or other functions are used, bobcad deletes important created wireframes or geometry layer contents. 2) Having an older version of bobcad to test failed operations. I have found bugs that are as irrational as bugs are, but it saves time to be able to move parts and test the code. 3) Moving such layer contents to a different version of bobcad is intentionally defeated by Harris/bobcad. Really disappointing that you think the latest is exclusive. To defeat the bobcad obstruction, you should demonstrate the necessity of saving various geometry steps as DXF for moving to the other versions of bobcad. There is really no way I have found to use the vaunted copy feature to copy Features to a different version. 4) The biggest failure of all is the Harris/bobcad decision to defeat/renege on the perpetual licenses by shutting down your license transfer number generator for all versions of existing licenses. Don't confuse the license key generator with illusions of old version updates or tech support as those are different subjects.

Why can't I do thread milling using G41 and no BobCad-Cam offset. Threadmill tool is 10mm Dia solid carbide doing a M12 thread, it crashes into the side of the hole on the lead in. It's worse if you are side milling multi cuts to thread depth. Machining from bottom to top. I am working on version 34.
@Aaron-bo8mz3 ай бұрын
Im not positive but it sounds like you only turned on machine comp. In that situation you need to have a proper lead in and lead out with more than the tool diameter to turn on and off cutter comp in a straight line move. If you use machine and system compensation you dont have to worry about this and you just adjust tool wear at the machine to comp the tool in.
@stevenwylie75883 ай бұрын
Sorry Aaron-bo8mz, The problem is that if I use just G41 (machine offset) without bobcads software compensation the tool crashes in to the side of the hole. Every CNC machine I have ever used, (and there are a lot of different makes with different controls) allows either in their threadmill cycles or by programming manually using G-Code this works fine. But BobCad won't even do this. Going back to how you suggested doing threadmilling you have your tool diameter/radius offset on the machine set to zero, which is totally wrong in so many way.

@31:46 Continuous pattern pass would delfect the tool from the face as the tool aproaches the OD thus creating not quite straight face. Where alternate pattern pass creates perfect faces since the tool pressure is the same all the way in the cut.
@mightyOmouse8 ай бұрын
Use of these patterns depends on tolerances on the drawing, but yes, if the face for example is some sort of a sealing face, you would use alternate pattern. Or there are two faces that need to be parallel to each other.. and so on

Something very strange happened today. They have my personal cell phone number and personal Yahoo email and its regarding my personal BobCad account that I paid with my personal credit card YET they called me at my Employer’s phone number!! And L.D. told me they will not help me unless I upgrade$$$ to version 36 Are they going to get my employer involved into this?
@MelRodriguez-q7z Жыл бұрын
I changed computers and no longer able to access files from my V21 . I legally paid and have receipt. I saved all my work there since 2004. They pull the rug from under my feet. I called and they said I need to buy the latest upgrade $$$$. This is black mail, so I'm now their hostage. My V21 license is supposed to be perpetual. This will really hurt me financially and risk loosing it all. I am open to your advice. Thank you.
