Today someone I know on Instagram posted a story with a picture of herself asking which fantasy character she’d look like and suddenly elf quest popped up in my mind again after 20 years, not hearing about it. Now I found all the comics online and I’m reading all day 🥹 I was obsessed with the comics when I was in elementary school at least 25 years ago. Reading the comics again now makes me feel so blessed and nostalgic and thoughts about my childhood. Thank you❣️

She and her husband created a saga for the ages with Elfquest. I got to meet them in the 80's. They were delightful. She also gave a young Colleen Doran the chance to publish A Distant Soil.

i bought my first elfquest 1984 when i was ill at home. i was 7 years old...But not so much storys where published in Germany. only till kings of the broken wheel. i had never the chance to bought another comic at this time, so i had only 1 that was original Quest #14...my treasure for many years...then in the end 90s i bought the upcoming series in Germany. now i've been 47 years old and the fire still burns, now i had the complete german an a very big english collectio...n only first issues all series some books and so on... thank you for being part of my life. Ember was my first Love, and she still is..❤

I never looked at the elves as the antagonists, but I guess it's correct... they did invade a planet, and slaughter the indigenous, and in their history they enslaved the trolls....interesting to portray the story from the invaders point of view.

They didn’t invade, they crash-landed as the result of the troll rebellion and were nearly exterminated by the humans. The survivors and their offspring have to deal with the consequences of their ancestors’ hubris and enslavement of the trolls and the preservers.

@@BuddyRevell455 FFS, what are you two, four year olds? It’s a narrative device to establish the reason for the distrust between the elves and trolls and open discussion about the evils of slavery. You sound like one of these dolts who complains about recognition without knowing it’s a metaphor for forced marriage/birth that the elves are eventually able break free from by the end of the saga when their magic grows. Stories have to have elements that generate conflict and discussion and a reason for the characters to grow.

@Cyrus... Agreed. The Pinis helped many, many people in their own way, just being themselves. Thanks to the Pinis for providing a source of grounding that helped me several years ago. And, edit to add, Wendy and Richard, I'm a bit upset, jealous, and wistful to know you're going to be on Long Island next weekend. I've been wanting to meet you both again (it's been thirty odd years) but I won't be able to get to Long Island until this July. 😣

Yes, movie directors DO study comics to understand framing and what to focus on in a story. That's why they draw storyboards, too.

I remember reading Elfquest when I was 5 in 1990. Thanks so much for your story. I haven't read Elfquest in a long time. I just saw a video about you guys telling your story and it was so nice to come relive this story. Thanks so much!!! Also I'd kill for this to be an animated show. I think my kid would love this when he's a little older.
