Hi there, very interesting ideas for your dream boat... Have you had a chance to look at the Xquisite 62 hybrid powercat ????

Hi, thank you for your interest! I can only find information on 60 solar power. Why do you ask? The 60 has nothing to do with my wishes. Not even a front exit, let alone an owners cabin on the upper deck. There is nothing about a 62 hybrid version to find...

@viggolipke6262 Sorry, but I was just asking your opinion of the Xquisite 60 powercat tri- deck fully inclosed flybridge with a hybrid system on board. As you have changed the Interior of your 80 to suit you. As I think the 60 tri-deck would be my dream boat. Your thoughts ???

The question is, what do you have in mind? Do you want to travel one region or the whole world? Or do you even want - like me - to spend the rest of your days on this boat? My intention was to board my ship and NEVER HAVE TO SET FOOT ON SOLID GROUND AGAIN!!! Not that I really want that, but I wanted to create all the conditions for it. The Xquisite 60 Tri-Deck is certainly a great boat and an ideal solution as a 60, especially if you want to operate the boat alone or as a couple. But it's not at all what I'm looking for.... Good luck, it's a great boat!

Well, it was a nice idea overall for your dream Silent 80 3-deck catamaran. In my view, the submarine won’t be fitted in this size of the yacht and it is gonna be a burden as the submarine is heavy. When the shipyards design the yachts, they have to come up with the light furnitures and materials. The heavy weight costs more consumption of energy. Especially, if you would like to add the flybridge, it definitely adds up a new structure. Which means you need to have more space for solar panels to collect more energy to run a heavy yacht. 😅
@viggolipke6262
@viggolipke6262 Жыл бұрын
I'm afraid you're right! The submarine still weighs 2.5 tons, unfortunately! That's too heavy for the SILENT 80, but I still found the idea of a submarine very inspiring 😊. And yes, more energy harvesting I also find very important, see deployable solar panels or wind rotors! Thanks for your comment.

Not enough square feet for the amount of solar panels you would need to do all these wishful thinking ideas. It takes tons of current to run a Ring or screw-type compressor to compress the Hydrogen into the tanks (POWER CONSUMPTIOn The Vertical wind turbines are a good idea if they do not shadow the solar panels....and they would produce lots of windage when it blows which would be felt at the anchor holding you in place...the idea of stowing them is a good idea however. You have to figure out the Total everyday power consumption needed for all the superpower drawing units on the boat...ie..Compressors...water makers....water heaters...elect stove/oven....these all consume tons of power and we aren't even taking about the Power needed to drive the Electric Propulsion motors............you will need 20-30 batteries...and 1,000 sq ft of solar panels minimal..................keep dreaming the dream...............

I don't know if you watched the whole video, but right at the beginning I list 9 manufacturers whose vessels are all solar powered. So the energy supply of the hotel, but also the operation of the engines is electrically secured, without that "1,000 m² solar panels" would be necessary. And 3 of them now also equip their ships with hydrogen technology without needing "tons of electricity" to do so. I find your objection interesting. But if it were correct, then not I, then the shipbuilders would have to "dream on". But perhaps you are dreaming too?

@@viggolipke6262 He is right. To fill up the tanks, you would need at least 1 week at anker with perfect sunshine in the tropics. The production sounds a lot, but are no comparison to the amount you need. The standard Silent Yacht can run on batteries for just 1h. Then it has to recharge for at least 1-2 days. As nice as it sounds at moment it is de facto a boat for the mediterrainian sea. Where you just drive out in the next bay and anker there for a day or 2 and then go back and the boat sitts there for at least a week to wait for the next weekend. And this in calm weather. That it is really designed for. Already when there is a stronger wind, the wind drift is huge and the motors substancialy underpowered. The absolut minimum you need is the E-Power + version with the 2 time 340 kW motors, but better more. Not to race, but just to handle the wind drift. I saw it life in La Grand Motte Catamaran show. 7 kn wind and they couldn't get in the harbour because of the wind drift. (professional captain!) Let's take the standard E-Power + configuration: 2 x 340 kW motors and 286 kWh batteries and 26kWp. Asume calm sea and half power the batteries are empty already after 50 minutes. If the panels produce at the same time full load it is just 54 min. That is the reason they have 145 kW generators additionally amd that is for sure undersized. You need at least 2 of them to use both motors at 1/3 max power. If you go full power your batteries are empty in few minutes. Only to impress a friend once. All the electrial motors on these kind of yachts are substancially underpowered because there is no power available to power more. In perfect conditions with 1/4 max power and only 1 motor running, you archiev the range they promise. And when batteries are empty, you need 11 h of recharging with peak load. But you have peak load max. 3 h a day. In reality it is on a sunny day 60% of it. Means 18 h of sunny day light and no hotel load. Even in the tropics this comes to 2 days charging for 1 h driving. Total meaningless. In reality the PV panels produce only slightly more than the hotel load, especially with air conditioning. The power for driving the boat comes in reality from diesel generators or hydrogene you get in the harbour. At moment almost nowhere is hydrogene, but will come in the next 10 years in the big harbours. (And this hydrogene is produced from natural gas, not green power.)

Interesting ship, with interesting features - solar and sun powered modern catamaran Sunreef 70 sail eco - video walktrough kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZzNkoShZ9JmmdE Another point to highlight. Electricity powered ship will probably have less strenght to propel itself and reach higher speeds. THEREFORE, the designer of the ship should take a good look on the shape of the hull, to increase the efficiency of the propulsion, the boat have. Question if hydrofoil is (or is not) feasible (my sugestion for that particular equipment is "no", because you may hit something underneath the waterline and see a pretty accident). In that department i was looking on special "M" shaped hull of the ship M 80 Stiletto, wich is extremely good for traveling in low waters, and the quicker ship goes, the more effective the ship flies. Quite aluring design of "Vision E" although not catamaran, still fully electric, solar powered. Just noticed, there is (in US) something called "Yacht owner representative program". It consists of courses and workshops, that covers specifications, negotiations, project management, quality control, legal issues, safety standards, environmental regulations and more. Unlike myself, the "teachers" there, are experienced proffesionals, who work in the field for decades. By the way, just heard, that some (super?) yacht builds are sponsored by casinos, and as a result have some "membership discounts". Makes more sense for charters (we all know your view on THAT... :D) Another interesting gadget i get to know of about recently is a sonar device, checking the seabed in front of your ship. There is "superyacht technology show", wich might interest you (and inspire you) too. Next in Barcelona (spain) 2024. Good luck with your dream. If nothing relevant comes up, wont bother you anymore. :D

3/3 - Security, active: This part is strictly on each yacht owner, because of the law that prohibits firearms on board of civilian vessels. That sadly means, you can not simply shoot all the negativity comming for you and your ship, because you can not have a gun there. On the other hand, there is quite a lot strictly civilian things, wich are NOT a gun, but when combined or modified, can be dangerous almost as one. It is only on you, how far are you willing to go when protecting what is yours. A) weaponized drones. Drones are used for taking vids and pictures. Why i have more onboard you ask? We were training on drone race (when and where is on you to know) Why there is a gunpowder on my ship? We wanted to prepare a firework. It is small, quick and explosive. used even as kamikaze drones, are extremely dangerous, as shown in feeds from war on Ukraine. Can be used from quite far distance, but can be used even to clean your own ships deck. And well, if some somali "fishermen" got lost on the sea including their speedboat and kalashnikovs, it is unlikely there will be MUCH investigating. Hell, you can even buy an agriculture drone ment for spraying the fields, fill it with something flamable - alcohol with superglue for example, spray the attackers and than deliver the spark. B) there was in history a system known as "granade chute". Basicaly a slide for hand granades, ment to clear the dead angle, close to the defended buildings wall. The same could be ussefull (only made out of non-flamable materials) for repeling boarding speedboat, already touching the hull. I mean - fired molotov cocktail can surprise even such famous party-goers, especially, when it lands in the middle of their boat. C) The molotov, or heavy enough object (like a brick) can be thrown quite far (up to 40 meters rough estimate) by rubber using hand powered sling/catapult. Big tube, with a bit smaller, closed tube, both are connected by rubber, the operator pulls the inner tube as far as possible, inserts projectile, aims and releases. In this case, the molotovs should use a firestarter build inside the cap, serving as a percussion cap/detonator. D) Fishing equipment for divers/spears. Those are not a gun, but to a degree can act as a long range weapon, AND can be modified, to be much more ussefull, than the one-shot harpoons, sold in every harbour. First, you have to recognize, that speargun (harpoon) and crossbow, work on the same basic principle, only one uses rubber, to transfer the power into the projectile, and the other uses a bow. There is famous youtuber Joerg Sprave, who runs "slingshot channel", on wich he managed to design and troubleshoot repeating crossbow(s) and even equipment, wich serves as magazine for quick shooting with a bow. Same principles could be used for speargun/harpoon too. It is not a match to firearms from afar, but if someone gets onboard your yacht and you do not what him there, you can create gunports in the boat house. Preferably camouflaged, and build into bulet resistant wall, with a camera feed inside, showing what transpires on the deck. - Sundeck, Tender storage area: Sugesting to prolong the tender storage area whole way up to the level of beach club. Because it seem to me, that OVER the planned tender storage AND crane area is a solar roof. Your tender area setup lures to either put there 2 tenders, or, maybe even better, have there a cradle for the sub(scooters?) of yours. Would be operated by the same crane as tender. Regarding tender type, i happen to see "zingy"? A boat, wich is possible to reconfigure into sailboat, motorboat, or rowboat. That flexibility seem to me as advantageous, and according the advertisement, the boat can serve as equivalent (or better pick) to lifeboat, or life raft. Flybridge: - Movie area You may make use of already existing seating in the flybridge (and the yacuzzi there), and use that area for movie nights. If you have got some way (anti wind - supported) canvas, and inteligently positioned projector, you might come to love the area. It is possible to use that only when weather and sea is calm, but when either is rough, you will probably not be enjoying movie night, but assisting captain with going trough the situation. Engine room safety: Your deckplan does not have obvious engineroom, but there should be one room with majority of generators, saltwater purifiers, hydrogen extractors and whatever machines you have there. It is an area, where the malfunctions happen, and sometimes (especially around electricity of fuel) occures a fire. For that situation it might be ussefull, to have in the engineroom 1) automated firealarms, cameras, and few firebusting throwing balls. It is a ball, wich in heat of flame erupts and releases the fire suppressive materiell, stored inside. The price is not too much and could be VERY ussefull. Economy: Purchase (to get money for buing the ship) It might be ussefull, to either sell your house(s) and car(s) for immediate influx of cash, or borrow from a bank, and than rent your property, to pay the bank. At this point, you should know, how much will your companions financially involved. If they want to enjoy travels and the nature same as you, they may even agree with 40:30:30 percentuell split. Another way to reach your goal, is ussage of less luxurious materials, omission of some abilities, or equipment of the yacht, (till the day you will have enough money, to buy that too), or you will make parts of the ship yourself (that can spare some cost too). Economy: Operation costs (where to get money, when you need them on something for the ship) You can sell excess of your catches, excess of ships energy, either fish, or chickens and some veggies and herbs from your aquaponic system, fish jerky, jam made out of local fruits, ice cream, you can even utilize the bigger drone, and get hired as freelancer cameraman, specialist on drone shots for resorts. At this point, each and any pasive income you managed to create can be weighted in gold. IF you are familiar with the environment, you can temporarily make a casino out of your ship, because when out in international waters, the local laws do not apply. And earnings of -not-so-official- casino, could be pretty interesting. Please, do not forget, that operations of yacht, takes anually roughly 10-20 percent of the purchase costs, for operation cost. Electric one will save some expanses for fuel, but docking fees, captain, food, repairs, etc. Vision E solar powered superyacht (price range estimation 25-45 milion EURo). Check the upper price options. Maybe if you manage to get 4 - 8 other partners, and each of you bring 5 mil euro, you can use the ship as you planned with the silent 80. Much bigger and roomy, much more luxurious, much more overall planned design. Sugesting check a video about that, for if nothing else, just to get inspired. Not to mention, there should be Silent 100 explorer (4 decks catamaran) - price around 19 mil EUR sadly... and Silent 120 explorer - even bigger and for 21 mil EUR...

2/3 - Saloon, Helmstation: Strongly advising to separate from the rest of common area. Captain will have to stay as unbothered as humanly possible. When directly in the middle of main common area, where somebody always moves, makes noises, eats, or even COOKS, it will be MUCH better to get captain his own helm-cabin. The smells, steem wapours and heat does not do good nor to the human, forced to sit there whole day, nor to the pricy equipment in the helm. If he decides to OPEN the area, say have big sliding door, than ok, but have to come from him, and have an oportunity to close the door. - Saloon, Galley equipment: Proposing at least 2 devices of each in the galley (such way, the kitchen is unlikely to loose its capabilities). Microwave oven, convection oven, heat oven, steemer, dryer, kitchen robot, coffee maker, watter heater, live hearbs, jam maker, gelato/ice-cream maker, ETC. Even still could have its merit. - Saloon, saloon: instead of ratan cubes, i sugest (to the wall) foldable banks, and expandable table (again, with possibility to screw out its legs and store it away from the area. For "television seeting" you can use quality grade camping armchairs, possible with legrest. Those are light, easily stackable storable and transportable by hand. The ratan cubes have similar pluses, but cube will still need the same SPACE, therefore you can not clear the area simply and easily. - Saloon, game corner: Sugesting to ask (or try) how works the pinbalmachine on a ship. It rocks, because of waves, and that could affect the trajectory of the ball (or even the dart, but dartboard is so small, that it does not matter if it is hanging there, or not. My tip is, to exclude pinbal machine and remove the bar inside the game corner area. IF it is directly at the wall, it takes little to no space, and still leaves much of the place free. - Entertinemet onboard the ship: Playstation, local computers hooked on locally created network, virtulal reality, tones of movies, shows, music, audiobooks and books in electronic version helps. For non-wet sports, i can immagine football (socker) in the cabin, when bed is not on the floor (of course) with soft slow foam ball. Sundeck: - Security, awareness: Informations about situation onboard - cameras in public areas, crew and passangers use a bracelet or necklece, wich contains RFID chip and serve multiple purposs. A) if the chip unexpectedly goes overboard, system triggers alarm. B) Door do automatically close and lock, from outside. If you go out, the door opens, but if you want to go in, you need to close the chip to the lock. Can be used simultaneously as a tool for data sharing (smart watch), and/or comunication, when in different parts of the ship. It is good to use highest point on the ship (or even make one by using telescopic stand), as a place for electronic "crows nest". Camera with zoom, thermocamera, laser rangefinder, and possibly radar, to get informations about surrounding as soon as possible, in most automated way. Even sonar could be worth investing in, to "see" if the seabed in front of the ship is not too shallow for the ship to sail through. Quite high value addition to that, might be an spotter drone. - Security, passive: It is not a bad idea, to have on your ship a panic room (or "citadel"). For inspiration on hardening the breaking and entering into your boat house, check techniques used to secure stores. There is a foil (see-thru sticker on the "glass"), wich incredibly hardens the shop window. Even attacks with baseball bat usually does not dammage the "glass", and attack with a pick created only small hole in it. Much more effective it is, when paired with a security shutter - metalic wall like shutter, wich (when rolled up) can reside under the roof overhang from higher level. Of course, all beach club areas either lifted up, enclosed, or peppered with razor wire. NEVER spare on pepper spray sprinklers, horn and radio (to call help). A button, to slide down all the shutters and lock all the doors would be handy. Part two of (probably) three
@ultramarinus2478
@ultramarinus2478 Жыл бұрын
1/3 Power/propulsion: Instead of vertical wind turbine, go for wingsails. Those are more effective to transfer the power of the wind, into the movement of the ship, than turbines, wich creates electricity, wich turns screw, wich propels the ship. When "sailing", you can still use the "flow energy" you mentioned, - i.e. recuperate electricity by screw, turning electromotor/generator and creating power. On Energy observer, they did the same swich (wingsails for turbines). If you want to know what is better for what situation (and therefor what better suits your idea), contact the companies who launched that project and ask them for data. The worst they could do is not answer, or answer "no". Especially when docking, or anchoring, you might want to have one additional way of harvesting electricity from wave power. That is clever, because Sunshine in the area your ship is in is MUCH less reliable (night-time, storms, nuclear winter), than gravitational power of the moon. Lower deck: - Workshop/garage: sugesting separate workshop and garage in two rooms, each into back side of one of the hulls. Garage connect with the big "backside garage", and use it to enter and exit the GIBBS pleasure craft. By that hack you will spare money for the hull side-opening modification. Of course, stock the workshop to the brimm with supply, spareparts, technical consumables, lubricants, seelings, powertool, material for hull repair, and whatever necessity you deem potentially critical. I do sugest welding machine, soldering station, and 3D printer. - Gibbs and other vehicles: Sugesting checking on gibbs terraquad ATV, not only gibbs quadski. terraquad is small car-like vehicle for 2 peope, with cargo area behind cockpit. Basic price of both revolves around 40 and 50 K of USD. But you may be willing, to spend some money, to let the gibbs vehicle modify, to work on hydrogen fuelcells COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR SHIP SETUP, to avoid fuel dependency, without getting too renewable, and therefore slow and quite motoricaly weak. Ebikes, especially foldable, therefore not taking much space, can be fun. BTW, do not forgot, you will have 2 companions there and a captain. Will you have enough pleasure craft for your friends? - Guest cabins and captain cabin are quite roomy and furniture makes it harder, to be used for another purpose. If you equip the quest cabins instead of double bedds with bunk beds folding to the sidewall, you can have the guest cabin smaller - wich will save you at least 1/2 of the deckroom of both cabins, to setup extra room (could be steem sauna, drone hangar, aquaponics and hydroponics setup area, AND if guests not there, use those cabins as an extra storage space. Even use of hammoccas and clothing sacs, all hanged from the ceiling of the cabin, could add some possibility for multi-purpossing and make said cabins more flexible in use. - Even in the owners and companions cabins, you should think about possibility to use (to the wall) foldable, or (under the ceiling) retractable double (queen/king size) beds. Because if set like that, you can use those cabins, as personal gyms (only bring weights, no-armrest simple treadmill, some simple rubber and spring sports equipment, and you can go. Main deck: - back garage: Check, that compressor(s) do require power, not fuel for its operations. Sub Nemo 2 (you would probably want to have the 2-seat version) is worth something over 600k USD. Its main difference in comparison to underwater scooter, is a fact the sub operates up to minus 100 meters, and scooters up to minus 50. My point is, if you want that for underwater videos, and pleasure diving, you will probably stay in the upper depths of the sea, because deeper the sunlight vanishes and you need a flashlight, to see something outside. Not to mention, one underwater scooter costs 20k USD, That will allow you to have whole fleet of those things, and go explore in groups with your friends and familly. Not to mention an upside of higher count contra one sole machine - if your costly sub stops functioning, you are screwed in your underwatter enevour, till someone does repair it, or company returns your money. If one of 3 or 4 scooters dies, not only you can be saved by your friends even if that happens underwater, but you can go again, only next time minus one scooter. Wanted to send you EXTENSIVE taught - excersise, made out of 20 main points, on basically ALL your video. Took me 6 hours of last night, and when done first time, my internet crashed and youtube do not remember non-sent comments. So i started again, and when i was in the "correcting typos" part of writing the comment (after another 8 hours taken out of my nighttime), the internet crashed again. Im sorry, but im mentally exhausted. The most critical point i wanted to highlight to you, is a fact, that widespread nuclear warfare, wich is seemingly one of primary reasons you want to go for the ship, the sciencists are expecting "nuclear winter", wich is quite long time after the multiple booms, when all the dirt, ash, smoke and dust explosively thrown in the upper atmosphere, and because the sun is effectively blotted out, the worldwide temperature will go down. But your solar pannels (and even the wind turbines) will go short (or at least on MUCH lower efficiency). On the other hand, -waves movement- and high-tide, low-tide are created by gravity of the Moon, wich will not go anywhere, therefore quite reliable source of energy to harvest, when anchoring, as kinda backup... BTW, for alternative energy sources check "Mobile Wave Energy Harvesting Wave Crawler", "Kiost buoy type", little bit extravagant on "William Skinner 1939 gravity power machine", and one extra WEAK, but quite reliable "Gravitylight 2.0". If you are interested in possibly presented ideas, and more on different topics, please reply, I will do my best to write it down AGAIN, and ALL submit before correcting typos. ... :D

But can you remember what the biggest problem was in the film "WATERWOARLD"? It was the lack of fuel!!! Whatever happens to this world...you wouldn't have that problem with Hydrogen Tech!

Interesting ideas. I like the galley forward layout. I'm not sure Silent would allow the 4th deck flybridge. It may compromise the CE-A rating having that extra height added to an already tall boat. I don't think the Nemo submarine is realistic. It weighs 2500kg. The motorized rear platform has already added additional weight to the rear of the boat as it is. I'm not sure the third deck could house a tender and crane due to the overhang from the solar panels. The rotating master bed is not really needed because the closet blocks any rear view anyway.
@viggolipke6262
@viggolipke6262 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment and your interesting arguments. Well, the maximum height of a CE-A certified vessel depends on various factors, such as the type of vessel and the construction. But there is no specific height limit for a vessel as long as it complies with the CE requirements. The argument about the weight of the NEMO is unfortunately true. SILENT Yacht has already objected to this. Unfortunately, I will have to do without it. But I can't understand your arguments about the rotating bed. For one thing, the sliding glass door is over 2 metres wide (enough to see out of), and for another, that was only 1 argument. The crane can't be a problem either (it's also needed for the land vehicles) and the space between the edge of the board and the overhead roof is still almost 3 metres! So we will have to see if I can place the tender there..... Become a subscriber and you will experience it :-)

Hello SILENT Yachts Team. Thank you for your interest in my plans! However, your colleague, Mr Franz Böse, sees the conversions as very difficult. Another commentator also said that I should rather realise my plans with the VisionF 82, as it is built of aluminium and my modification wishes are easier to implement there. What do you think?

This video is brilliant - so well thought out and described. I really enjoyed it, thank you for creating and posting. I hope Silent Yachts incorporates your suggestions. The one thing I prefer is having all the guest cabins on the main deck - similar to the Curvelle Quaranta yacht - something that is very uncommon; I am not a marine architect but I suspect such a configuration would mean a complete redesign.

Thanks for your comment! It would certainly be a great idea. Especially if you're travelling in the cooler north. But I'd rather travel the south, the warmer regions. So I think we will only spend the least amount of time in the cabins. Even at night, I'd rather sleep outside on the deck under the stars than in a cabin. However, the maindeck will be the most important living space on board, next to the flybridge. Therefore, I prefer to leave the cabins below deck....

A masterful job at turning a dream into a viable reality....and a much-improved version of the original that takes virtually all needs and scenarios associated with world cruising into account. I've lived a summer on a houseboat, worked on a freighter crossing the Atlantic and helped steer a 28' inboard/outboard from FL to Trinidad; enough to know that this is a well-thought-out project outline from beginning to end. I wish you fair winds and following seas, my good friend. Tus homies en Puerto Rico te están esperando. PS......and don't worry too much about the H2; according to Toyota's website, their Mirai's "multi-layer hydrogen tanks are so strong they can repel a bullet shot from close range" :)

I e-mailed silent yachts a year ago and asked them why they are not using Hydrogen Fuel Cells instead of Diesel generators, they said it was because the technology wasn't developed enough. I think this is very short sighted on their part. Overall this is a huge improvement on the original design. Respect! The only thing that still needs to be developed is an AI sailing/drive mode. This is something that will be coming soon, and I think it will easily be integrated into these yachts.

I don't. When was the last time you saw a hydrogen fuel pump at a marina? yea never. When they said it wasn't developed enough, they mean on a mass scale. Look at how the planet is struggling to put in electric chargers.

Using the Silent Yachts 80 Tri-Deck as the base design, I would take a serious look at the Sailors' working conditions for your Dream to function correctly. There are too many systems IMO to safely operate this vessel on a 24-7 basis without a dedicated, trained crew. I served 20-yrs in the USN on 2 fast attack submarines, I had 2 primary specialties & numerous OJT (On the Job Training) Duties I Qualified for in order to function as part an operational submarine. You have a similar number of very complex systems "stuffed" into the 80ft.-Catamaran. It takes more than a Dream & a "Pile of $$" to produce your Trans-Oceanic Eco Cruiser. A small crew, trained & qualified in your Eco Cruiser Systems, in a properly designed Silent 80 Tri-Deck+, will allow You and your Guests to actually live out your Dream. 😉

I can’t believe what I’m hearing! It’s almost as if you live in my head. I have to say, your phobia of sleeping below deck is nowhere near the unsettling feeling of compressing hydrogen! What do you think of the kite system? Your ideas are interesting and intelligent, but I disagree with an enclosed fly bridge, open air is a must for me.
@viggolipke6262
@viggolipke6262 Жыл бұрын
Well, my goal is already "Kevin Costner" (LOL), at least as far as total independence is concerned. I find the idea of setting sail on a ship and never having to set foot on land again simply fascinating. Even if I don't really want that... Hydrogen would be the key to that, though! At the moment, I assume that the technology is mature and proven, since more and more manufacturers are using this technology. But a certain risk remains, of course. I think the use of a kite is great. Especially with solar-powered ships. For an Atlantic crossing, I could use the kite during the day while the sun charges the batteries... and at night, when there is no sun, I use the stored energy for propulsion. The next morning, when the batteries are empty, I use the kite again! I think that's great. But why do you talk about a "closed flybridge"? The flybridge is raised and completely open! Or did you mean the owners cabin? In my opinion, safety first! And well, with a balcony door and maybe a few lowerable windows....it would be a bit "open air" - wouldn't it?

@@viggolipke6262 I don't know if they have the owner's cabin on the upper deck but I am sure that if you contacted them they would be able to accommodate your requirements more cheaply than silent as their hulls are fiberglass, so would have to create a whole new mold just for you.which I expect would be very costly.
