Super bizarre. In a good way, though. It's comparatively simple animation, but done in a creative fashion. Definitely inspiring to anyone who would want to make their own animations. The story is really pretty dark, but I think that says a lot about how this world used to be, and still is. The crocodile turned out to be blushing heavily... HOW OBSCENE.

good drawing and well animated, but shity story about toxic masculinity, the crocodile use the free care of a woman (miss octopus) and abuse her body during her sleep to finally kill her (its a rape). The original text was written by a french surgeon (léopold chauveau) in 1923, certainly his frustration to not have access to women... what a shame to put that in anime. Also at the end, the cliché of the black people as a tribe and the exotisation of the black woman, such a racist biais of a good racist white surgeon of the 19th century, begining of 20th.

This is about self-awakening. He cannot resist his desires, his love toward octopus works as a pun. He does love her as a mate and meat. It is like what Hegel said about lions eating sheep to negate sheep into oneness. To make it simpler for non-philosophy majors, it is like your freedom will impede others' freedom. You may hurt others while you are in love with others, because your love is also just desires. You may feel lose and rejection during the process, and you understand yourself better this way.

What the old croc didn't realize is that he had found contentment in the love among others. Granted this love was on rather unusual terms but love nonetheless.
