Thank you for the informative video. I see in the technical appendix that ARRT uses the Rasch Model to determine exam item difficulty. I assume all exam items must fall within a numerical parameter to be included on the exam. Rationally, that makes sense. We want the exam to have items of reasonable difficulty -- the Goldilocks principle. What concerns me is the relevance of that Rasch index value to actual daily practice. What if, for example, an item on the radiography exam that requires the examinee to evaluate a lateral elbow radiographic image for corrective actions if the humeral condyles are not superimposed has a very low Rasch index value (i.e. it's a more difficult item). Will that item be excluded from the exam simply because its difficulty index does not fall within the accepted range? Assuming that's the case, the ARRT is, in that example, failing to assess a critical skill that even entry-level radiographers must have. Perhaps the Rasch index value of that exam item is low because the education community is failing en masse to adequately teach that skill. This naturally produces a unfortunate cycle... educational community teaches to the exam which is designed around what the educational community teaches. ARRT has historically been opaque on how many exams items require the examinee to actually evaluate radiographic images, yet that is exactly what radiographers do every day. Somewhere in all that statistical analysis the patient gets lost.

You are correct, there is a point where an item could be too easy or too difficult for us to use on the exam because it would reduce the exam’s reliability. However, we fix items rather than throwing them out. Our committees regularly use data provided by our psychometric team to revise items so that we can keep the content on the exam. Additionally, the task inventory and content specifications are derived from the tasks that R.T.s perform, not item difficulty. It can be tough to write effective items for some content areas, but our item writers and committees continue to develop for all areas of the content specifications. For more information on the practice analysis process, visit our website and search for "practice analysis." We publish reports for each discipline.

You're raising the base registry renewal from $30 to $65. Must be nice to get a 117% revenue increase on a lifetime revenue stream, just because you decided you deserve it. I note that you didn't solicit my valuable feedback on that issue.

I agree. How is it fair to double your fee if you have one modality? ARRT should revisit these. A flat fee of $65 with multiple modalities sounds more fair compared to a technologist with one.

Nobody cares about the DoL classification. It won't make the least bit of difference. Why not go out and advocate for state licensure requirements in the roughly ten states where a chimp could legally administer an x-ray or CT scan? Instead, you're focused on feel-good initiatives like this, at the same time you're raising the base registry renewal from $30 to $65. Must be nice to get a 117% revenue increase on a lifetime revenue stream, just because you decided you deserve it.

I agree. Our program would love to hear more on this topic as well. We would also love to have a conversation about going back to remediation after 3 failed attempts. Excited to hear more on all topics for educators.

Yay! Thanks. This is exciting. As an educator, I would love to hear about how my students in CT and MRI did on particular sections (topics) of the registry. That way I could alter my content/courses if needed!

I urge the Office of Management and Budget to reclassify Registered Technologists (R.T.s) from Technical to Professional status. This change is essential in recognizing the advanced education, expertise, and critical role that R.T.s play in patient care. By classifying R.T.s as professionals, we not only acknowledge their contribution to health care but also ensure they receive the respect and recognition they deserve. This reclassification will better reflect their responsibilities and enhance the overall quality of care provided to patients.

I strongly support the reclassification of Registered Technologists (R.T.s) from Technical to Professional status. R.T.s play a crucial role in health care, providing essential imaging services that require extensive education, skill, and ongoing professional development. Recognizing R.T.s as professionals accurately reflects the level of expertise and responsibility they carry in ensuring patient safety and delivering high-quality care. This change would not only acknowledge the vital contributions of R.T.s but also align their classification with their true role in the health care system.

Are you confused as to what a radiologic procedure is.. it means radiation... sonogram means ultra low sound waves.. so why are you lying to the public that sonogram is radiologic.. as I searched the difference in all different organizations, I realized that this organization is trying to monopolize the industry by certifying all different types of imaging.. so if that's the case then all of the other fields should also do the same because have only one organization certificate all different fields sounds fishy if not unethical... you are by definition an organization of radiologic or in other wards... X-rays.. shouldn't you just certify X-rays only?...Sad if this turns out to be that this organization is doing this just for money!!!!!
