Hey there! 🌟 Just a friendly reminder that this is an English language channel, not focused on German pronunciation. Feel free to say the brand names in the German way if it's more comfortable for you. This video is geared towards helping English language students grasp how these brands are typically pronounced in the US by native English speakers. Thanks for your understanding, and if you have any specific requests, feel free to share them with us! 🎉
@happyenglishhour7 ай бұрын
Just to clarify, there are actually only 4 German brands mentioned in the video, so saying 90% doesn't align with the math. It's important to be specific when providing corrections. Additionally, this video is in English, not German, and it reflects how these brands are commonly pronounced in the US. Thanks!

This is so far from real advanced English, that it is quite questionable if this is still English in the first place.
@happyenglishhour8 ай бұрын
Well, language evolves, and what may seem non-traditional or informal now can become commonly accepted in the future. Understanding and adapting to these changes can be crucial in effectively communicating with different generations and groups 🤔📚
@thecubeofkiko40728 ай бұрын
@@happyenglishhour yes but we should always know precisely where is that line and boundary between formal, informal and slang vocabulary. Most of the words that you’ve included are extremely informal and slang-ish. These words are absolutely inappropriate in formal communication and even in communication that is not formal nor informal, these words are not usable at all. People should learn versatile/common vocabulary and phrases so that when you come into contact with a native speaker, you can freely communicate not really worrying what occasion you’re in or who you’re speaking to. The language from your video can be used in very rare occurrences and it is limited rather than being usable. Yes it is important to know how to talk informally but again, there is a difference between informal and childish, and the vocabulary from your video is nothing but that.
@happyenglishhour8 ай бұрын
@@thecubeofkiko4072 🤔 It appears that we have different perspectives on the boundaries between formal, informal, and slang vocabulary in English communication. While it's crucial to be aware of these distinctions, advanced English proficiency can encompass a broader spectrum of language styles and registers, including informal and slang terms. The goal of the video is not to teach "high-brow" English but to showcase the diverse range of English registers available. Embracing a variety of linguistic expressions can contribute to a deeper understanding of the language and enhance communication skills. While some words may be more informal or slang-like, they still hold value in certain contexts and contribute to the richness of language. Understanding and appreciating these aspects can make interactions more engaging and authentic, especially when engaging with native speakers who may use a mix of registers. In the end, language is dynamic, and different individuals may have varying preferences and definitions of what constitutes advanced English. Let's acknowledge our differing viewpoints and celebrate the diversity of the English language and its registers. 🌟

@@kevinsolari2744 Nice catch! However, if you are not a native speaker, these expressions are very useful for understanding the younger generation and even those who are no longer teens. You are absolutely supposed to pronounce the L in Almond. The TTS voice in the video even says it!
@happyenglishhour8 ай бұрын
Well, technically, it depends on regional accents and preferences. Some people do indeed pronounce the "l" in "almond," while according to most dictionaries, it's not typically pronounced. 🤷♂️ Here is a source to check out: www.collinsdictionary.com/us/dictionary/english/almond

That may be the case. However, if you look up COLLINS COBUILD or OXFORD DICTIONARY, all of these words, except one, should be pronounced without an 'l' sound. The only word that can correctly be pronounced with an 'l' in British English is 'balk' 🙂

Fun fact: 'In the last month' can be perfectly correct when used with the Present Perfect tense, for example ''I have made a lot of sales in the last month''.
@happyenglishhour9 ай бұрын
Nice catch! Here's the breakdown: "I have made a lot of sales in the last month": This sentence indicates that the sales were made over the course of the entire last month, up to the present moment. The use of "in" indicates a continuous or ongoing action that started in the past month and may still be ongoing. "I have made a lot of sales last month": This sentence refers specifically to the month that has just ended. It suggests that the sales were made within the time frame of the previous month and does not imply any continuation into the present. So, the first sentence implies ongoing sales activity that may continue into the current time, while the second sentence refers specifically to sales made in the past month that has concluded. 📊👌 Anyways, thanks for catching that! 🙌👍

@happyenglishhour10 ай бұрын
That's a great question! And the answer is 'YES, you can'. When you say 'I will meet you in 2 days,' you actually mean 'I will meet you after 2 days'. In this context, 'in' is used to express 'after'. In the video, on the other hand, we discussed prepositions that relate to specific points in time, indicating actions within a certain time frame rather than after it. I hope this explanation was helpful. Please feel free to ask more questions! 🙂
