I have been around Liam before when a band I was in played the same festival and stayed in the same hotel as Oasis in Spain. Noel wasn't there but Liam was obnoxious and rude to the staff. I think a younger Phil wouldn't have paid any attention but unfortunately by the time Noel made his 'flippant' comments Phil was understandably sensitive after all the years of grief he'd gotten from critics who didn't have any clue or care how much respect he had from real musicians in the 70s 80s and 90s, what he had contributed to Genesis and how in demand as a player and producer he was from Eno or Fripp to John Martyn and Robert Plant. It's a shame because he said he originally liked some of Oasis stuff before the negative comments emerged and I think him and Noel would actually have gotten along quite well given the chance. Apparently some time in the 2000s they were both on holiday at the same time, same hotel on some tropical island and the owner asked Phil to get up and play. He agreed and went over to Noel's table to offer an olive branch inviting him to join him in playing something. Noel in a very mature display all but ignored the request seemingly worried it would not be cool for his image. Numpty.

The arrogance and narcissism of Oasis is one of the reasons for their demise.
