A single statue? Out of context. The beauty of 'Another Place' is the MANY statues looking out to sea.

Just left to rack and ruin lad! Heartbreaking. Funny, councils can find money for unimportant stuff but historical stuff like this….. Nah, doesn’t internet them!

All by design, the Labour Councils has deliberately run Birkenhead into the ground for 50 odd years.

Nice walk on a lovely day. A bit of a commentary on street name(s) specific buildings-some beautiful buildings on this walk-would have made it even more interesting, however,I enjoyed it anyway.👍😉

I don't live in Birkenhead and haven't for over 40 years but have been to the Pyramids and the market on trips back and it was quite bustling. To be fair, I don't think you were there on the right day.

Thanks. I watched this because, although I live only a few miles away on the other side of the Wirral, I haven't been to Birkenhead to shop in years. I get everything (except groceries) online - and that's the main reason for the town centre decline, imo. Also, I go where the parking is free, on principle (motorists pay enough for increasingly less in return). So, it's Bromborough (Croft Retail), or even further afield to Cheshire Oaks for me. Compared to when I was a lad (I'm 64) when it was a bustling area of commerce and entertainment just a short bus ride from the council estate I grew up on, Birkenhead is in a very sorry state these days.

To be fair looks like you're there early or a sunday as there's quite a few shops that are usually open are shut in this video. I live here and they keep building pointless buildings and not adding great shops that will make town thrive just letting shops leave and loads of cheap bargain shops and charity shops. It's sad to see.

I was there last week, each time I go it looks like a ghost street without people but passers by, and all business are shut (some boarded up). The street is very short anyway, so you can walk all of this CT in 5 minutes. Perhaps the Chinese population of Liverpool has since moved elsewhere in the city or to another place altogether.

If my Grandad was around they wouldn't need anyone but him to tell them what they dug up and from what ship those peices came from, or probably even what is in the ground before digging the area. As he was the Dockmaster of ALL Liverpool Dry Docks and Birkenhead Dry Docks from the year 1960 to the late 1980's..
