this must be insanely difficult to play with the contradicting rhythm and melody in the beginning

If I'd have to describe this in one word, it would be soothing. I just finished Fontaine today (literally right before I opened KZbin and saw that you uploaded a piece), so I haven't had the chance to hear this music in game yet, will be checking back once I'll be working on 100%-ing Petrichor. Also, I do agree on you making the decision of uploading this even though you're working on a full Petrichor-soundtrack arrangement - I think it's better to just post them all one-by-one, then upload the whole repertoire - better for the algorithm, and better for us, since we get to experience the pieces on their own as well as a whole once you've finished arranging. To blend some negativity into a positive comment, I have a nitpick with this piece: I think the leading melody at the start is too sharp compared to the lower notes on the other hand, but I don't know how much it stays out in the original, so maybe it was intentional. Anyway, here's a long comment for you. Thanks for continuing to arrange easy-to-play, but enjoyable (maybe meditative would be the word I'm searching for) piano arrangements.

By sharp, I assume you're referring to the tone, and not the actual pitch? This is a digital piano so I would certainly hope it's not out of tune lol I am intentionally trying to voice the melody much more than the accompaniment. To me it feels even more prominent in the original, since you have the contrast between two very different instruments on top of just the dynamics. But I can see how sharp can describe it since even with the contrast, it should be, as you said, soothing. I definitely could have done better, but alas playing softly and consistently is hard and I decided to focus more on the latter here. I will also say that while editing this video, I ended up increasing the volume/gain on the audio more than usual. That would also help explain the sharpness. I'll probably tone it down when making the compilation video. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it overall!

@@thealanpiano Yes, I meant that it's louder than the left hand. I don't even know if there's such thing as a digital piano playing out of tune. And also I think the volume increase had it's part in that too, didn't even think of that. Glad you didn't take it the wrong way. Have a nice day!

This is a pretty unique take compared to other arrangements I've learned. Nice touch with the high octave and gives it a more ethereal feel to notes, and when the chorus comes in, its delivered with fantastic energy. Great performance!

Thanks so much for providing a free arrangement(wonderfully made by the way). I've been learning a lot of the pieces from this game and a lot of the time, the sheet music was paid, so it was really hard to find a good one. Edit- I know this is a bit out of the way, but could you please make an arrangement of the Black Root Burrows(after awakening the statue) theme from Blind Forest? Its an incredible soundtrack and not very well known, but my favorite from the game.

The sheet music is soo useful, and your advice in the description is very helpful as well. Can't wait to learn the other three you arranged from Spiritfarer!!

This is a fabulous arrangement! What program did you use to annotate your sheets like that? It looks v useful, but I haven't yet found a solution for that yet other than printing em out and writing on them.
@thealanpiano
@thealanpiano 3 ай бұрын
I currently use forScore for annotation! It's Apple only and costs 20 USD, but has a lot of nice features designed specifically for musicians. Before that I used Apple's own Books app. It works perfectly fine as a generic PDF viewer/annotator, but I moved away from it because 1. I found organizing sheet music very clunky and 2. exports were horribly inefficient (had one 10-page PDF take 100MBs). forscore.co/ If you don't use Apple, I know there are similar apps for Android, but I'm not familiar with them sadly. Hope that helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

I've found you through your Lament of Orpheus cover, listened to everything you had back then, learned to play Lament of Orpheus, then tried your Ori Main Theme cover, and realised that your sheets are right on my level of playing the piano. You've made my love for the instrument keep burning, and I thank you for that.
