I saw them with a friend (and bandmate), and our minds were blown. We loved every second of it. He was especially excited about Thela Hun Ginjeet, but I couldn't have been happier when they opened with Neurotica. What a performance. The fact that Vai and Belew are discussing the possibility of writing some original music makes me hope that there's a future beyond just playing 80s King Crimson for them, because this lineup is insane.

Thanks for your soft spoken sincerity. I appreciated your video journal / concert review. My favorite songs are always “at the moment” and right now it’s Indiscipline which I used to intro my daughter to this music. She likes lyrics foremost and I thought she’d enjoy the story of that letter. In Seattle they closed the second set with Indiscipline and I was so thrilled by Danny’s drum solo. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a band place a rock drum solo like that at the beginning of the song. Loved it! 🤘🏼

Steve Vai ran a masterclass as well, and similarly it wasn't about music but all about how to set goals, set your plan to achieve them, and stay focused on achieving it. Interesting to compare what each artist chooses to share with their music.

I took Friday the 8th of November off. Why? Beat was playing in Vegas, and I live in Salt Lake City. 5 to 6 hour drive, cheap hotel... and it was the greatest musical performance I have ever seen. I could have NEVER forgiven myself had I missed it. Once in a lifetime... I've lived in SLC for 2 years. Nobody knows who King Crimson is. I have friends who are happy that I made the trip, but nobody knows how special this performance is. Except maybe you, Snackers. Thanks for the video! Thumbs up, new sub.

didn’t get time to do this before but the best thing for me to do to stay present is to go outside and take in the world. If I can get in the ocean and surf then that is the best but just sitting and listening to the world is the best way i can stay present. For me Adrienne Lenkers music has brought me so much calm, joy, sadness, introspection, and awe. I am constantly awestruck when I listen to her music and think about the way that her hands have to move to play it and how she wrote such beautiful lyrics. Since I’ve begun playing guitar I have become even more enraptured by it. Her alternate tunings and unique picking styles really feel like something fresh and new. This month I had to make a short film for college applications. I ended up choosing to use Music For Indigo as the song for it. Because the assignment was to create a film with no dialogue the song really had the ability to inform my story. When I edit to music I tend to get really sick of a song but with this project I feel like it just brought me closer to the music. (The film is on my profile if you would like to see. I’m pretty proud of it) you did a wonderful job capturing the feeling that comes with her music. Your story from the show was really touching and well told. Keep up the good work :)

when i was around 16, i had a sleepover at a friend's house while his parents were on vacation. in their basement filled with old stuff, there was a vintage harp. i woke up at midnight to get some water and heard the harp playing. it wasn’t random noise or something like a rat running on it or something lol. it had a distinct melody. to this day, i can’t explain it. i’ve convinced myself it didn’t happen and that i must have been half asleep imagining things 🤷♂

You might want to look again at the history of Tibet. The serfs who lived under the Tibetan caste system had fewer rights than livestock. They could be beaten, had limbs amputated, or killed by the Tibetan ruling class for any insult, perceived or real. While the PLA and the CPC have often made huge errors and miscalculations with their liberation efforts for the workers and peasants of the PRC, the lives of common Tibetans today is much better than under the previous regime. The Dalai Lama was a paid CIA operative, and the whole counterinsurgency against the PLA was nothing more than another CIA backed, color revolution. Try listening to those who lived under the former Tibetan regime and see what they say about the material conditions that existed then. For the ruling class, they definitely saw their material conditions diminish after the PLA suppressed their rule, but you could say the same for the royal families in France after the French revolution as well. Nobody is calling for the monarchy in France to be reinstated and for the peasants to assume their previous role. Why ask the same of Tibetans? This paper has some good information on the subject. redsails.org/friendly-feudalism/

@SnackersPrime very cool and casual. I'm from Rochester, NY, so I'm literally around the corner from you by about 3 1/2 hours if you're in Toronto. I saw them at a midsized club here back in 2016. My buddy and I talked to him at the merch table. He couldn't have been nicer even if he tried. I'm friends with a now long defunct band from here called Withered Earth who toured with Gorguts back in 2001. Luc immediately lit up when I told them that, then proceeded to ask how they were all doing. He even ended up giving them a shout-out during the set. If you ever get the chance, just go say hello. He's super friendly and approachable.

I saw King Crimson at Massey Hall in '94 (THRAK Tour). This video brought back some good memories. And BTW, after watching all the interviews with Steve Vai leading up to this tour, I was SO VERY impressed with how he did things. How he absolutely nailed Fripp's tones and phrasing while giving an equal measure of his own involvement (as "the incomparable Steve Vai") in performing the songs; He did a real bang-up job! I've rarely been so blown away.

I saw the first Discipline show in in 1981 at the Savoy in NYC and a fair number of Crimson shows the following years. I also just saw Beat in Fort Lauderdale. While the soul of KC, Robert Fripp, may be absent, the spirit of KC is alive and well in Beat. I'll be honest, I really wanted to see Danny Carey and Steve Vai so I can check them off my list. I've seen Adrian and Tony many times but honestly thank goodness they were in this configuration. There are only so many pieces you can replace and still keep it authentic. Regarding Lark's Tongue at 12:30, it must have taken Steve a few shows to get it to that point because when we saw him, he was doing a tapping technique which was fine but I guess it bugged him enough to figure out Fripp's technique. Just imagine how difficult it must be to adapt your style to one that is so radically different from your own. Also, it was fun watching Adrien fight with 40 year old technology. How any of that stuff is still working is beyond me.

Thank you for opening yourself and sharing your experience. Don't worry about "being entertaining" please. We were all at the concert being challenged musicians ourselves. Did more of you senced like the musicians on stage all felt proud to be able to make this music with those other three awesome musicians? And so much fun and joy was expressed while performing! Also huge respect for the sound engineers doing their job at the Massey Hall concert. The sound was exceptionally excellent, and this is judging from the side balcony near the stage, often in the shadows of the PA System. Indeed a concert that could not be missed. Worth all the commitment one had taken to be able to be there. Maybe even better than Crimsons last performance in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.....if those things are comparable.

I have two favorites.
