Great cars, great engines, great drive and great battle.

Fantastic work, Mick. Clearly the better driver by a mile. Simon doesn't appear to know his car or the circuit well enough.

Great car control Mick. Cheers for the opportunity to "Race"!

Great driving, too bad there was so low grip when you went for the outside. Must have been a lot of tyre-wear and dust over there. It was an excellent move, maybe a little bit enthusiastic, but should not have you stuck in the gravell trap. Your GTV6 looks always very well balanced and you drive it really smooth!

Mick - in those 1st couple of laps you stick your nose in where you have no right to be! Nice job.

We used Hugh to put a camera on nose of his car to follow a group A V8 to market a sponsor. He was called in to pits to be told not be be so close…. Haha… they could only read 3 letters of the sponsors name through the corners…

Looks like the 156 hit the same slick too. Could have ended badly for you both if he did not recover!

That second pass looked to have a bit of an 'oh shit...' moment about it :) But love seeing 2 GTV6's go toe to toe!

Sweet pedalling Mick! You worked for both of those passes, but I reckon you already have enough GG's :-) Great video being able to see your feet, hands and where you're looking.

Nice race craft you’ve got turn 9 probably hardest bravest corner down pat... you’re too much of a gentleman, I felt you could have made life a little more difficult for the blue Alfa as he did for you. Then again the 116 never came out with a 2 liter turbo... go figure

Thanks for the kind words Marco, it's been a long time since we've been on the track together! (probably Phillip island nearly 10 years ago) This was my first time driving at SMSP, so I know there's room for improvement. And yes, I cringe watching this back, I left Alfio way too much room and could have definitely driven more defensively once I passed, or made him go the long way around. Next time I won't make the same mistakes! Becoming more familiar with the track always helps too. Cheers and merry xmas.

What kind of RPM are he pulling on this engine? Must be approx 8000, or maby up against 8500?

The rubber coupling blew up and took the flange with it? I have been lucky that so far when the rubber blows up, the flange has been intact. I also reve my 12V to 7000rpm and will go to 7500 rpm with my 3.2 24V. Going to swap to CV joints + a single rubber in the rear.
@mickaarons9 жыл бұрын
Nope. The tailshaft itself snapped in half, just back from the front spline. The spline was still in the housing and the rubber donut still bolted to the flywheel. There must have been a hairline fracture.

No. This car had a 3.3l Euro kit conversion to compete in the Victorian Touring Car Championship. Otherwise to my knowledge the car has been kept original from when it raced in '85

Original 2.5 as per group A spec.. for this category.. did run a 3lt ain a sports sedan series and cleaned up 2 years or more if I remember.. that was a giant 6lt stuff.. car and driver.. 👍
