too much explantion for simple concept, try to be brief to the point
I am actually contradicting to what it says , backup nowadays is not just for files , it takes full backup of virtual machines and can be restored in more granular manner, in short , one backup , multitude of restore options .

what happens if an increment in the chain gets corrupted?
@alexanderkucheryuk47226 жыл бұрын
Either the entire chain is lost or only backups that were made after the point of corruption. It should be noted that enterprise level software allows you to validate and verify backups after making them avoid this type of situation. Redundant storage deters any hardware imposed malfunctions.

@umerbashir97387 жыл бұрын
If you can reach them at, like if the survers are broken and need fix there for you can't get you information for that business deal that is important for so you can use a flash drive.

Can these clouds sell your data?
@umerbashir97387 жыл бұрын
That is why I can't support the cloud as they maybe selling our data like Facebook or the government wants a way in to get information in case of a extremist. By making a backdoor that can get into the hands of hackers
@storagepipe7 жыл бұрын
Excellent Pints: 1) Most backup services today will allow you to encrypt your data using a private key that isn't known to the provider. Your backup provider only stores the data in encrypted format. 2) Keeping your backups on your own hardware is like keeping your life savings under your mattress. The leading source of data breaches are theft of storage devices or access to primary storage. Backup providers actually invest very heavily in security and privacy infrastructure. Check out our "Bank Fallacy" video for more info. Thanks Umer!

That's a great comment. We'll keep that in mind while working on future videos. In the meantime, you might consider clicking the "Options" icon on the bottom right corner of your video. It gives you the ability to slow down the speech to 75%, 50% or 25% of the original speed. (Judging by your username, you probably already know this. But I hope this comment might be useful to others facing the same issue)

Guys, what if you don't need disk or tape backup? Some companies do cloud backups so that your business is up and running in seconds (ok, I guess technically the data is then still stored on a disk, but the added cloud computing element could really help). kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIHMdpmFmc5jb80 << check out this vid detailing the sometimes disasterous consequences of tape backup

GFS never made much sense to me, unless you keep all the daily tapes for the entire RPO objective. A file created on Wednesday and accidentically deleted on Thursday would be lost - if you don't catch it before the Wednesday tape is recycled. Progressive (with retention policy) is the only way to go today. Thanks for a nice presentation.
