Ātaahua! Back in 1996, The Lim Family & Na Lei o Kaholoku hula halau, visited Aotearoa New Zealand to perform at the Aotearoa Traditional Māori Performing Arts Festival (ATMPAF - now known as Te Matatini) held in Rotorua, my hometown. They performed 'Pua Olena' at a night show held at the Sportsdrome. My whānau, friends & I were there & we were blown away by the beauty of the singing & hula! So much so, that 3 years later, I named my daughter, OLENA in commeration of the song, hula, flower/plant & my love for the Hawaiian culture. Mahalo for sharing your culture with us that night. It left a lasting & lifelong impression on me, which will live on in my daughter. Kia ora!

Many years ago, in the early 2000's I was fortunate to attend E Pili Kakou, it was held on Kauai. Kumu Blain Kia put the event together. I was able to attend two years in a row with my Kumu, Kau'i Isa Kahaku and some of my hula brothers & sisters from our halau, Na Wai Ola. It was amazing! I sang with Auntie Genoa Keawe, danced with the Lim Family and there were many more wonderful moments. One of the best things I've ever experienced in my life. I miss dancing. This inspires me to dance again. The Lim family are wonderful, talented, special people. Love them. Mahalo for posting this beautiful video.
