Does anyone have the material files? Unfortunately the store is closed. :( Can anyone help me with that?

Hey Henrietta, sorry about the store being closed, I highly recommend Udemy Alex Hanneman's intro to nuke courses and his car tutorial. I'd wait for a 70% off udemys sale (they have them every week almost). His training is way more robust, mine is a little outdated. Hope that helps.

there is also mistakes in this movie which when Ray gets harvested he gets in to right cage and then teleports to the left cage also on the heatray scene, if u look closely u can see a tripped man, actors here needs to trip to get the vaporised effect but this guy didnt know that he should be tripped

Yup, I will give it to them, they had only a few months to do the VFX and to this day, this film's VFX are top notch.

I wish the community supported the site when I had it up for free. Reason why there is few support channels is the lack of support by the community that selfishly takes but never gives back. Most don't admit this in looking bad on their channel but it's true. I once put the price of the footage to a dollar, and nobody would buy it, but when I put it back to free, tons of downloads again. That stuff burns contributors.

Start with pen to paper. I just finished writing a tv series that took me a year. Sweat over it, rewrite it, get feedback, if nobody like it or says "meh, it's OK", rewrite it. And most important, get right with God (Jesus) and he can help you with it. Don't be like 99 percent of filmmakers who fail because they are in rebellion to God and striving to be "make it". You will get nowhere, even if you have all the money, all the crew, all the equipment. Won't matter.

how do you interact with the colorist on composed shots? wich comes fist - the colorgrade , compose? And how to return the composed sequence to the colorist with an appropriate color space? Or do all composes graded in the same program they where composed (nuke in this case). Sorry for indistinct quastion, I am really puzzled by this step in production. Thank you for the course!
@VFXforfilm2 ай бұрын
Basically the show(colorist/editorial) will deliver us the raw plate footage (muddy gray with all data in blacks and whites). They also deliver to us a LUT (current colorgrade the colorist has chosen). We do all our compositing on the plate footage WHILE looking at it through the added grade (like looking at something through contrast sun glasses). We then render and deliver the shot exported same as raw (muddy gray) as a FINAL and we ALSO deliver a quicktime compressed version with the LUT applied for tech checks to spot any mistakes. Hope that helps.

@@VFXforfilm thank you very much for your answer! Could you please clarify the background processing? In your lessons you paint on a background, how can a colorist work with that? If you render separatly, then how to retain the painting? Or do you return the composed (foreground+backgroung) in RAW?

the only glitch is your knowledge, this film had little production time and budget, made in 2005 but still has better cgi than most new films like the new war of the worlds

what if the rgb values of the beauty pass surpass the 0-1 range. How do I fix this? I tried clamping it but it looks bad and grading it makes the clip dark. Any fix?

In the second scene shown, as soon as the Tripod leaves, the camera lowers itself, but in a way that the effect moves together (you have to have a very good view to notice it). But in my opinion, the scene with the most mistakes (despite being the best) is the ferry scene, since as the scene goes on, the cars seem to be moved all the time in a confusing way and even involved vehicles that weren't even used were present on the vessel (if someone noticed that)

Thanks. I have a question what the purpose of this tool if we can do similar (as I see) in ibk key gizmo node (using C, Fg, BG), ibk key have luminance control. Many years I just used key mix with a different ibk keyers (and one clean clean plate) for different areas, like hairs, dark areas, bright areas etc. on Reddit someone told me that it’s incorrect to use many ibk keyers with same clean plate for different areas…
