I know this paint is wet at that moment. Is this flat or glossy paint?
@michaelashley2855Күн бұрын
If you read through the comments you’ll find an astounding amount of interest in this subject - although most advocate for the use of flat - glossy is used in this video for good reason - learn this and why to never say “chicken wire” by reading the many interesting comments
@WisdomPreservedКүн бұрын
It is glossy. The flat would be better for seeing through but the glossy is more durable.

Do you need to put them in new sterilized jars or can you use the jars that you poured out the non-set jelly from and just refill them
@WisdomPreservedКүн бұрын
It just needs to be clean hot jars since the processing time will sterilize it.

At least in my oven, which is just moderately dirty, I sprayed dish cleaning soap and water and did a little scrubbing; it worked fine.

Don’t forget the black absorbs the heat. I don’t know what your summers are like, but where I live my chickens would probably die.

It's because black adsorbs most of the light and does not reflect as much light as the unpainted wire does, it would be even better if you used flat black paint.
@michaelashley28555 күн бұрын
Best to use gloss paint
@onmyworkbench70005 күн бұрын
@@michaelashley2855 No gloss paint will reflect the light, why do race cars have black hoods? It's from the 1950s/1960s racing cars. The idea was that black bonnet would not *_reflect the sun as much as a painted hood._* The cars from that time had very flat hoods (as opposed to the curved and sloped down hoods we have now) so they would often work almost like a mirror. "You can lead a horse to water but you _*CAN'T MAKE HIM THINK!!!*_"

I was concerned with whether or not pasteurizing would prevent the cream from separating. I’m interested in buying raw milk in large quantities so that I can make my own butter but I’m concerned about microbes. I wanted to make sure pasteurizing myself wouldn’t kill the cream.
@WisdomPreserved6 күн бұрын
You can still skim the cream off after pasteurization to make butter. Just allow it to sit 24-48 hours after you process it. (I recently bought a 1922 butter churn and my kids have been loving the fresh butter.)

Im sorry if this is a stupid question. But do foods that are canned like this last a year? If not, how many months? I wanna make a big batch of canned speghetti sauce.
@WisdomPreserved6 күн бұрын
The standard is generally 1-3 years for home canned items. The quality is usually best in the first year. After the third year the nutritional value begins to decrease. (There is no such thing as a dumb question.)

Once one truly understands science as it pertains to human vision they understand that the human eye actually can see nothing physical. The eye merely sees the reflection of light as it illuminates a physical object and that reflection in turn is received by the eye. To prove that theory to yourself go into a well-lit room, take note of everything you think you can see, turn off the light, exit, and have someone else go into the room to rearrange the items. After that has been completed, return in the dark and attempt to tell where the items are now located. They are still there. You still have the same eyes you thought you were seeing objects with. But, with no light reflecting off the items and returning to your eyes, it is impossible to see them! Yet, and I reiterate, the objects are still there! By painting the wire black you have reduced its ability to reflect the light bouncing off it back to your eyes. With the paint on the wire now absorbing the light rather than reflecting it, the light seems to be allowed to penetrate further illuminating objects beyond the wire. Those same objects were already being illuminated. But, the reflection from the unpainted wire was more prominent and your eyes could not detect the reflection of the light returning from the objects located behind it. Dark objects absorb light as opposed to lighter colored objects being more reflective like the original state of the wire.

Thank you ladies!!! I have been looking for tomato chutney since around 1989 when I went to a very beautiful antibellum house restaurant and tasted it with fried green tomatoes!!!!!!!! I made it last night and tasted it this morning, and it is fabulous!!!!!!! I got 8 1/2 pint jars made, thus the half jar is MINE ALL MINE!!!. I'm planning to give maybe 3 jars for Christmas with the recipe and ideas of how to use it on the Christmas card. I can hardly wait till my daughter tastes this!!!!!! I know she will go crazy about it. Her wife Traci has gotten into baking and did I think one canning of strawberries, so I KNOW she too is going to want to try this. Again, Thank you!!!! Vicki
