this song is amazing but I think the interpretation seems a bit bland, not emotional enough, it's too "white" and you can only hear the sopranos' tiny voices. it should sound like a sun coming out in an African oasis, it should be filled with rhythm and energy and hopefulness

Lots of critical comments here. The thing is, if indeed, the storm is passing over, I prefer this rendition to that of the more somber, heavy one.

Really, Treble III is out of your range? We Alto II singers find it a relatively narrow range - Middle C to A. Or did they make you sing one of the higher parts? Now THAT would be cruel.

The tempo is too fast, the hallelujah part was not rhythmic and too sharp and bright. The choir is good, but the execution of this song could have been so much better.
@tonirose67762 жыл бұрын
Agree with all points. Tempo way too fast and at the Hallelujah section needed the clapping to be in rhythm. Look at black choir from Detroit for tempo and soulful expression and syncopation. Other things good though, in this rendition.
@MiccaPhone3 жыл бұрын
technically well executed like by perfect robots, but where is the soul? look at the detroit mass choir version for the same song with lots and loads of soul.
@Vitaluv3 жыл бұрын
That took me ALL the way back to church days as a youth. Not even trying to be mean but these folk know nothing about the storm. WE know though. It is in our blood.
@MiccaPhone3 жыл бұрын
@@Vitaluv I spotted one exception: forward to 2:05, last row, the tenor to the rightmost. Watching him is fun - and you can even hear him.

Ætérna fac cum sanctis tuis in glória numerári. [added later, mainly from Psalm verses:] Salvum fac pópulum tuum, Dómine, et bénedic hæreditáti tuæ. Et rege eos, et extólle illos usque in ætérnum. Per síngulos dies benedícimus te. Et laudámus nomen tuum in sǽculum, et in sǽculum sǽculi. Dignáre, Dómine, die isto sine peccáto nos custodíre. Miserére nostri, Dómine, miserére nostri. Fiat misericórdia tua, Dómine, super nos, quemádmodum sperávimus in te. In te, Dómine, sperávi: non confúndar in ætérnum.

The choir, conductor and pianist were exceptional with this Tindley hymn. . This particular song is sung by choral groups of many races, small and large, in many countries around the world. It is a testimony to the goodness of God and His unfailing love for all of His creation. The Stony Brook Chorale sang every word clearly and with heartfelt fervor. The conductor and pianist had the audience engaged, compounding an immense amount of joy and peace. The singers were dressed so professionally and the pianist and conductor wore modest, stylish, and contemporary outfits. This complemented the song and kept the focus on the music and the words. I live in the Ozarks in Mid-America. Had you performed in our great city, at the end of the song, the audience would be standing, clapping, and making of lot of noise, celebrating the great performance and the blessing that you shared with the public. Keep up the excellent work. It is appreciated! A fellow singer, Springfield, Missouri, The United States of America
