Had one for 15years. Struggled with it...sounded Ok with my Apollo, horrible with budget 2in/2outs (for my hearing !1) but recently paired the PR40 and PR30 with a Presonus Quantum HD2....and the magic is revealed. These mics deserve excellent preamps. That said, they also sound pretty good using the SoundProjects VTB-1. I can't imagine how good the sound with a premium preamp. The guy who introduced them to me was using an Avalon 737....yeah so, now I understand. excellent mics.

The little clamps that come out for the xlr cable will not go back in properly. Can you upload a video on this. There isnt a single document or manual that even considers these parts.

Just watched another video where you said that the further away you move the overheads the more you emphasize the cymbals. Here you're saying the opposite.

Hmmmm. This is confusing. Based on the sound I first thought this was actually a condenser that hadn't been EQ'd properly for the video. Very Sibilant, especially for a dynamic. I notice James Wedmore uses your mic sometimes. His voice has the same top end bump making all of his S cut through too loudly. Started searching to figure out why he was speaking in the front of what looked like a side address mic. I now know it's a dynamic mic in what looks like a side address condenser body. The voice over on this video has the same exact over exaggerated S that James' voice has on his podcasts. I'm confused why there is a such a robust shock mount for a dynamic. Unneeded unless there isn't any internal shock protection at the capsule, I'm genuinely trying to figure out where this mic sits in the industry and what "need" it was built to solve. Was it mostly for the visual alternative to what most dynamics look like?

I can't find anything that explains what the switch thingy at the bottom of the arm does... (looks like maybe it's for routing a permanent cable but then why does it move and latch into 2 different positions?)

I’ve had the Heil HDK-8 Drum Microphone Kit for a few years now and I think they are the secret weapon. Great drum mics! They are really easy to mix as they are “tuned” for making drums sound great. No one can believe I’m using dynamic mics as overheads. I’ve used them on different players and kits and they have never disappointed. I haven’t once thought I needed anything else, or another brand/kind of mic to get a truly great drum sound. Congrats on a winning compilation!! More people should discover these “secret” weapons!

I Have Everything In The Video ( PR-40 + Shock Mount), The Arm Will NOT Hold The Mic In Position, If I Touch It, It Falls Right On My Desk. No Way To Adjust The Springs. Poor Quality

Ella's a rock star lol. That mic sounded really good, I won't lie.
@ipKonfig2 жыл бұрын
do NOT waste money on this mic arm - it's utter crap. They don't show it in the video but the arm does NOT hold its position at all. You can ONLY use heavy mics. If you put a mic on here that's not too heavy, you'll watch it launch! It's not worth the money and there are far better arms than this garbage

I cant tell what mic he's using on overheads. The PR31BW is Heil's flagship overhead, but those are clearly handhelds on stage. Perhaps a 22UT or 20UT?

Agreed, I own a pair of PR22's and use them every chance I get. Whenever a vocalist says to me " I have my own mic..." and hand me a 58, even the popular SENN(835/935's) I do my best to Not Cringe... I'll soundcheck with Their mic, get a decent level for FOH and Monitors. Then I will Clone their channel and swap out for my 22's so they can Hear the difference...I RARELY have anyone go back to their 58's...even the BETA's. Everyone on stage is like "What IS That?!?"...It's a HEIL
@JasonWelchMusic3 жыл бұрын
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!....But one part of this video is very confusing. You showed the pr40 inside the kick. Then you showed the pr48 just inside the hole of the head. Then you said never to place the mic inside the hole. Please clarify what you meant. I have learned so much from your channel. I respect your knowledge, and do my best to emulate your methods. It has really helped my recordings.

Great to hear a female voice. What about the shock mount. I don't want one. Too much on camera and I don't bang the desk. Thoughts?
@HeilSound3 жыл бұрын
You don't necessarily need a shock mount. A boom arm would suffice in most cases.
